11.4 Use of the armrests (OPTIONAL CLA210)
The armrests can only be tip-up. This function is handy for getting into and out of the wheelchair.
Rotate the armrest backwards to tip it.
11.5 Use of the large rear wheels
The 60 cm rear wheels are used when the wheelchair is self-propelled. Grip the handrail on the
wheel and push it in the desired direction.
The rear wheels may be placed in different positions. Contact a specialised retailer for advice
on the best and most correct position for you.
11.6 Use of the small wheels for narrow passageways (OPTIONAL CLA221)
This type of wheel serves exclusively for short movements of the wheelchair through particularly
narrow passageways (such as the doors of a lift). To use these wheels, lift the wheelchair to
extract the large rear wheels, push the wheelchair by resting it on the small wheels at the rear,
then reinsert the large rear wheels on completing the movement.
N.B.
The large rear wheels have a quick-release system. Press the button at the centre of the
wheel to remove it. To reinsert it, simply align the wheel shaft with the hole on the hub and push
inwards until the safety clip is correctly locked into position.
11.7 Use of the brakes
The large rear wheels have a manually engaged mechanical brake. Grip the lever and push it
forwards to lock the wheels. Push the lever in the opposite direction to unlock the wheels.
11.8 Transporting the wheelchair
The wheelchair has been designed to be easily transported. Once the footplate and rear wheels
have been removed, it can be closed and easily positioned in the car boot, for example. If this
is not possible for reasons of space, place the wheelchair in front of the rear seat so that it is
stable and cannot slip or slide. If possible, secure the wheelchair with the seatbelt.
12. MAINTENANCE
The ARDEA ONE range of products by Moretti S.p.A. are CE marked and carefully checked
before being placed on the market. For patient and doctor safety, have the product checked at
least every two years by the manufacturer or by an authorised laboratory to verify its suitability
for use. Use only original spare parts and accessories for repairs. Before using it, carry out all
the checks and controls suggested in the paragraph "BEFORE EVERY USE" of this instruction
manual. ARDEA ONE wheelchairs only need a few simple and periodic maintenance operations.
The periodic checks to carry out are:
Braking capacity
Seat cleaning
13. CLEANING AND DISINFECTION
13.1 Cleaning the covers and padding
The covers and padding are made of nylon. Clean them with water and mild soap.
13.2 Cleaning the frame and the metal parts
Also clean with warm water and mild soap. Dry with a soft cloth to avoid scratching the paint
on the frame.
