CASSETTE OPERATION
RECORD button
Press to make a recording from either the CD/MP3 or radio or internal
microphone.
Note: If a recordable cassette is installed, when the RECORD button is pressed,
the PLAY button will be depressed at the same time. The record key will not go
down if the cassette is protected; see ' Protecting recordings from being erased'.
PLAY button
Press the PLAY button to start playing a cassette.
REWIND button
Press the REWIND button to rewind a tape quickly. Press STOP/EJECT button
to release the button at the end of the tape.
FAST FORWARD button
Press the FAST FORWARD button to advance the tape quickly. Press
STOP/EJECT button to release the button at the end of the tape.
STOP/EJECT button
Press the STOP/EJECT button to cancel a selection, i.e, press this button during
cassette play to stop the tape.
In stop mode, press the button to eject the cassette.
PAUSE button
The PAUSE button can be used to interrupt a Recording or Playback temporarily
and is useful for editing the content of the recorded tracks. Press the button
once to pause the recording, press the button again to continue the recording.
Note: In Pause mode, the Cassette motor is still energized, therefore the feature
should not be used for long periods of time.
AUTOMATIC STOP
The Cassette mechanism has a built-in automatic stop. During
Playing/Recording, the unit will automatically stop when the end of the tape is
detected.

TO PLAY A CASSETTE TAPE
1. Open the cassette door by pressing the cassette STOP/EJECT button.
2. Insert a cassette with the exposed tape facing upwards and the full reel on
the right (unit plays from left to right) into the guides on the inside of the
cassette door.
3. Close the cassette door.
4. Set the FUNCTION switch to the TAPE position.
5. Press the cassette PLAY button to start the tape playing.
6. Adjust the VOLUME CONTROL to a comfortable listening level.
7. To stop the tape playing, press the STOP/EJECT button. Press the button
again to open the cassette door and eject the tape.
MAINTENANCE
If the sound becomes muffled or in any case
after every 15 hours of operation, clean the
pinch roller, capstan, erase head and record /
play head. Open the cassette door and use a
cotton bud moistened with special tape head
cleaning fluid.
CAUTION
Never touch any of the parts described above with a metal object. Do not insert
a cassette until the cleaned parts are completely dry.
AUTOMATIC LEVEL CONTROL (ALC)
This set has the latest Automatic Level control circuitry, therefore, it is not
necessary to adjust the Volume Control when recording. This circuit
automatically records at the correct level and prevents over loading.
Note: While recording you may adjust the VOLUME control as you desire
without affecting the recording operation.
TO RECORD FROM THE BUILT-IN RADIO
1. Slide the FUNCTION switch to the RADIO position and tune to the desired
station.
2. Load a cassette into the cassette compartment, with the full reel on the right.
3. Press the cassette RECORD button until it locks in the down position (PLAY
button is depressed at the same time) and recording will start.
4. To end the recording, press the cassette STOP/EJECT button. If this button
is not pressed, the recording will stop automatically when the end of the tape
is reached.
