Pickup Bed Preparation and Installation
NOTE:
Read this entire section before drilling to reduce risk of damage to pickup bed.
1.
If removed, temporarily put pickup bed in place
Ensure the locating pin shown in Figure 8 is properly installed to both the pickup frame and pickup bed
to prevent misalignment.
2.
ALTERNATE METHOD: Lift pickup bed and support with 4x4 blocks to provide clearance to install center rails
3.
Using a 1/8" drill bit, drill 4 holes per the reference dimensions in Figure 9 or the template on Page 9.
4.
While under the vehicle, check alignment of the pilot holes with the installed cross rail Puck centers (item 1).
Adjust pilot hole positions as needed for proper alignment.
5.
Once you are satisfied with the 1/8" pilot holes, then drill 4 holes using the 3" hole saw.
6.
Deburr the rough edges of the 4 drilled holes.
7.
Apply corrosion preventative to raw edges of drilled holes.
8.
Remove 2x4 blocks and set truck bed onto the frame rails. Adjust bed alignment and install the bed bolts.
9.
Tighten the bed bolts to 50 ft-lbs (68 Nm).
