11.5. Raw material conditions
The machines are designed to handle large volumes and most varieties. Depending on the nature of the product
to be processed (wet or dry), as well as the room temperature and other factors, it may be necessary to change
the barrel.
Consult with the MASTER PRODUCTS sales department if you plan to process dry product because the machines
are sold as standard only with a wet barrel, and to process dry flowers it is necessary to use a specific barrel.
11.6. Preparation of the raw material
It is very important to separate the flowers from the branches. If you want to trim fresh flowers, it is recommended
to remove the larger leaves before feeding them into the trimming machines. Large leaves accumulate dirt in the
machine, reducing yield and trimming quality. Removing excess material will help to produce a high-quality end
product and increase productivity. The work can be speeded up and optimised with the help of the different ma-
chines of each range marketed by MASTER PRODUCTS. Please contact our sales department for more information.
When dry trimming, the leaves tend to coat the flower, reducing the chances of the leaf being trimmed by the blade.
It is very important to trim within the moisture level recommended by MASTER PRODUCTS to achieve a high-quality
end product.
11.7. Operation and trimming conditions
The machines are equipped with different variable functions that give the user the possibility to control or adapt
the equipment to any situation or final requirement of the product to be processed. Parameters such as barrel
inclination, barrel rotational speed, reel rotational speed, suction or suction power, etc. can be adjusted.
The factors described below can significantly influence the quality of trimming and the operation of the equipment:
- The inclination of the barrel.
- The loading speeds.
- Relative speed between the barrel and the trimming reels.
- Suction or aspiration capacity.
All these factors also influence the time that the flowers to be processed remain in the barrel.
The machines can be tilted at an angle of approximately fifteen degrees to facilitate the loading of product into the
barrel and increase the effectiveness of the production process, reducing trimming time. An increase in the angle
of inclination causes gravity to promote the advancement of the product to be processed through the barrel. The
higher the angle of inclination of the equipment, the higher the feed rate and the lower the trimming time. The
smaller the angle of inclination, the lower the speed and the deeper and tighter the trimming.
The machines can be tilted directly by hand in a few minutes without the use of tools. For this, simply loosen the
two handles on both sides of the lower frame. Then grasp the handles at the entrance of the machines and adjust
the inclination to the desired position. Finally, turn the handles to fix the machine.
