5. Use in marine water:
JBL BioNitratEx can also be used in marine water. The
procedure is as described above, but to avoid the occurrence
of bacterial cloudiness through nutrients being washed out, you
need to add a downstream layer of activated carbon (JBL
Carbomec ultra) into the filter.
6. Effectiveness: at least 6 months in normally stocked aquariums
(1 cm fish per 1 l water); in well-planted aquariums with low
nitrate content also up to 12 months. During each filter cleaning
or latest after 6 months please check the degradation state of
the JBL BioNitratEx balls and, if required, refill the balls. Do
not remove any ball remains because they will inoculate the
newly added balls. Always clean filter hoses, impeller and its
housing during each check.

The removal of nitrate from the aquarium water never can
replace a regular water change. It can only prolong its intervals.
We therefore recommend a monthly partial water change of
approx. 30 % of the aquarium volume during the use of JBL
BioNitratEx. This is required to prevent an accumulation of
inhibiting substances.
Contents: 100 BioNitratEx balls for 200 – 300 l water, depending
on stocking density.
