Replacing the coupling inserts
ATTENTION
This operation must only be carried out by specialized personnel.
1) Remove the coupling guard;
2) disassembly the motor or engine or remove the pump from the base;
3) axially move the unit in order to access the rubber inserts by uncoupling the two half-couplings;
4) replace the worn material;
5) reassembly the unit, by consulting the procedure described in paragraph 5.3 "Mechanical connections" from point 5 onwards;
6) check pump-motor alignment again both after having reassembled the unit and after a brief period of operation.
6.4
Disassembly and reassembly
ATTENTION
The contents of this paragraph is exclusively dedicated to authorized after-sales service centers.
The pump must always BE DISASSEMBLED BEGINNING FROM THE DELIVERY SIDE AND REBUILT BEGINNING FROM THE SUCTION SIDE.
When removing the transmission coupling, never tap on the shaft projection. Use pullers that only lever on the pump shaft and appropriate
threading at the top.
Disassembly
Proceed with the following operations step by step until the required component has been removed. Following this, comply with the described
operations in reverse order after having read the below listed general reassembly recommendations:
1) remove the bearing cover on the delivery side;
2) remove the packing ring nut after having blocked the shaft from the coupling side, taking care to prevent it from being damaged;
3) remove the recirculation pipe from pumps with a mechanical seal;
4) note down the positions of the shimming rings. Remove the bearing support and relative ball bearing with four contacts using a puller;
5) repeat the sequence for the suction side;
6) remove the spacer sleeve, bearing its position in mind (remember the position of the internal O-Ring);
7) remove the packing gland or flange with the mechanical seal;
8) remove the sleeve and relative packing or remove the mechanical seal if installed. Remember that unlike the one on the suction side, the one
on the delivery side turns in an anticlockwise direction;
9) repeat the sequence for the suction side;
10) turn the pump around its axis. Rest it on the suction flange and anchor it with clamps. Support the shells in the delivery part;
11) remove the balancing pipe and pad. Remove the 4 rods and take out the delivery unit using it as a puller for the mechanical seal sleeve if
installed;
12)
proceed by assembling the other parts of the pump, supporting the shells in the delivery area. Tighten the ring nuts of the impeller pack and
the tie rods to the values given in the table in chapter 10 "Technical data".
13) make sure that the play between the impeller shims and relative rings does not exceed the nominal dimension of 0.8 mm.
14) if necessary, restore the nominal play
has been machine turned.
General recommendations when rebuilding
Complying with the disassembly sequence in reverse order, complete the operations as described in the following instructions:
1) make sure that all the necessary O-Rings or keys have been fitted;
2) always replace the packing and the O-Rings when removed, even though they still appear to be efficient;
3) facilitate insertion of the sleeves by using oil or grease. If they stick, do not force. Extract the sleeve and emery-paper the shaft area if it has
been damaged, using fine-grain paper. Now insert the sleeves again;
4) rest the suction casing on the suction flange and fix it in place with clamps;
5) begin assembly by coupling the three suction side sleeves on the shaft (the O-Rings of the two spacer sleeves must point towards the
intermediate sleeve) together with the mechanical seal with clockwise rotation direction;
6) insert the packing gland of mechanical seal flange;
7) mount the splash guard ring, the bearing support and the bearing ring;
8) insert the radial ball bearing after heating or with grease and tighten the ring nut;
9) insert the assembled unit on the suction casing and fix it in place;
10) mount the shim rings;
11) mount the impeller, remembering that the one with the short hub should be positioned as last on the delivery part, the diffuser and shall with
its feet appropriately positioned;
12) proceed with assembling the other parts of the pump, supporting the stage casings in the delivery area and tightening the impeller pack
ring nuts and tierods according to the torque values given in the Table in Chapter 10 "Technical data".
13) instead of the bearing on the delivery side, use a spacer of the size of this bearing and tighten it down with the ring nut. Make sure that shaft
float is 4-5 mm;
14) following this, mount the bearing with grease, inserting the previously removed shimming rings. If maintenance has involved the replacement
of components such as impellers or diffusers, shim so that the SHAFT IS SET AT HALF FLOAT.

Spare parts
To ensure guarantee coverage, only ever use genuine Caprari spare parts.
Give the following information when ordering spare parts from Caprari S.p.A. or one of their authorized after-sales service centers:
1 - complete code of the product;
2 - date code and/or serial number and/or job number if any;
3 - denomination and reference number of the part indicated in the spare parts catalogue (available from authorized after-sales service centers)
or in the typical sections given in this manual, or the outer diameter and total length of the flexible coupling including the hubs, when new
rubber inserts are required;
4 - the number of parts required.
6.6
Inactivity
If the pump is to remain inactive for 20÷30 days, always make sure that the rotor is free to turn and that the hydraulics are primed before starting
the machine. The pump and ducts must be completely emptied if they cannot be protected against freezing.
Consult the chapter 4 "Storage and handling" for other instructions.
