Tips for use
-
Vacuum packing products is not a substitute for canning. Perishables should still be kept refrigerated
or frozen.
-
Do not overfill the bag. Leave at least 6.5 cm space at the opening of the bag so that the bag can be
placed correctly in the vacuum chamber.
-
Do not wet the open end of the bag. This will prevent the bag from closing properly.
-
Clean and smooth the open end of the bag before sealing it. Dirt or wrinkles can cause an improper
seal.
-
Push excess air out of the bag before vacuum-packing. If there is too much air in the bag, it cannot be
vacuum packed properly.
-
If the food you are sealing has sharp edges (such as bones or shells), wrap the edges in kitchen paper
to prevent a broken seal.
-
Let liquid foods (such as soup or stews) cool first before vacuum packaging them.
-
Freeze fruits and blanched vegetables before vacuum packaging them.
-
When vacuum packaging frozen foods, leave at least 6.5 inches of space at the opening of the bag.
This is because the food may expand. Place thawed fish or meat products on kitchen paper and wrap
the kitchen paper with them to absorb the extra moisture.
-
When storing foods such as tortillas, pancakes or bread, put a sheet of baking paper between them as
you stack them. This makes it easy to take them apart again afterward. Vacuum pack the rest again and
put them in the freezer.
-
If using accessories, leave 2.5 cm space at the top of the canister or container.
-
Allow hot food to cool to room temperature before vacuum-packing it, or parts of the contents may
come out of the container.
-
If you are not sure if a bag is vacuum packed properly, pack it again.
