Transport connection (example)
Diaphragm protection
(cardboard layer)
Cable tie (plastic)
With the model 990.45, the diaphragm is protected by the transport connection of the
upper and lower bodies of the diaphragm seal. Before mounting, the cable ties and
diaphragm protection, shown above, must be removed.
After loosening the transport connection and during mounting, particular care must be
taken to avoid damage and any mechanical deformation to the diaphragm.
Keep the packaging, especially the diaphragm protection. This will provide optimum
protection during transport (e.g. cleaning, change in installation site, sending for repair).
If components are already preassembled on delivery, the correct mounting must be
checked before commissioning, since, for example, screw connections may have loosened
during transport.
5. Commissioning, operation
The two sealings on the lower body of the diaphragm seal must be designed in accord-
ance with valid standards and be suitable for the process. The sealings should be of
the same quality and only differ in diameter in the case of different flange sizes on the
diaphragm seal and process sides.
Depending on the process conditions and the flange standard applied, the required
mounting parts (e.g. threaded bolts, nuts) must be used.
Before mounting, wetted parts must be checked for cleanliness and cleaned properly. The
diaphragm, for example, may only be cleaned with a clean, soft brush and suitable solvent.
