FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

Charging
Charge the battery cartridge with the Makita charger
before use.
The following tables indicate the operating time on a
single charge.

Installing or removing battery cartridge
(Fig. 1)
• Always switch off the tool before insertion or removal of
the battery cartridge.
• To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it from the
tool while sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.
• To insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the
battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip
it into place. Always insert it all the way until it locks in
place with a little click. If you can see the red part on
the upper side of the button, it is not locked completely.
Insert it fully until the red part cannot be seen. If not, it
may accidentally fall out of the tool, causing injury to
you or someone around you.
• Do not use force when inserting the battery cartridge. If
the cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being
inserted correctly.
Battery protection system
The battery cartridge is equipped with the protection
system, which automatically cuts off the output power for
its long service life.
The tool may stop during operation when the and/or
battery are placed under the following situation. This is
caused by the activation of protection system and does
not show the tool trouble.
Charge the battery cartridge.
When the remaining battery capacity becomes low.
Recharge the battery cartridge.
Switch action (Fig. 2)
CAUTION:
• Do not look in the light or see the source of light
directory.
• This tool has function that light goes out at low voltage.
At this time, recharge the battery cartridge.
Push the switch to light up the light. To turn off, push the
switch again.
Head angle (Fig. 3)
The head angle can be adjusted in four stages. Adjust as
desired.

ASSEMBLY
Replacing fluorescent tube (Fig. 4, 5 & 6)
CAUTION:
• Do not give the fluorescent tube a shock or mar it. It
may result in a risk of breakage of the glass and a
serious personal injury.
• Do not touch the fluorescent tube which is hot in use or
immediately after putting out light. You may get burnt.
• Always be sure that the battery cartridge is removed
before replacing the fluorescent tube or maintenance.
Removing Procedure
• Loosen screw A.
• Remove the bumper by pulling it downwards.
• Loosen screw B.
• Remove light cover.
• Lift up fluorescent tube and remove from socket.
Installing Procedure
• Remove cushion from old fluorescent tube and then
attach it to new fluorescent tube.
Now reassemble equipment in reverse order to removal
procedure.
Shoulder strap (Fig. 7)
Install the strap on the tool.
MAINTENANCE
To maintain product safety and reliability, repairs,
maintenance or adjustment should be carried out by a
Makita Authorized Service Center.
Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or the like.
Discoloration, deformation or cracks may result.

These accessories or attachments are recommended for
use with your Makita tool specified in this manual. The
use of any other accessories or attachments might
present a risk of injury to persons.

the proper and intended manner.
