Adjust the stop (3) so that the file (2)

Adjust the height adjusting

filed back to the required height
(flush with the gauge).
Remove the filing gauge and file

down all the depth gauges to the
same setting.
File the top of the depth gauge

parallel to the stamped service
marking (see arrow) – but do not
lower the highest point of the depth
gauge in this process.

Place the filing gauge on the chain –

the highest point of the depth gauge
must be level with the filing gauge.

WARNING
The kickback tendency of the saw is
increased if the depth gauges are too
low.
Chains with humped drive links
The upper part of the humped drive link
(with service marking) is lowered along
with the depth gauge.
WARNING
The other parts of the humped drive link
must not be filed since this may increase
the kickback tendency of the saw.
After sharpening
Clean the chain thoroughly, remove
N
filings or grinding dust – lubricate
the chain thoroughly with oil.
Maintenance and Care
Lubricate the guide with oil at
N
regular intervals.
Rotate the round file at regular
N
intervals while filing to avoid one-
sided wear.
