6.4 SERVICING THE AIR CLEANER
Procedure
PORTABLE GENERATOR
A dirty air cleaner can restrict air flowing into the carburetor. To keep the carburetor in
good working conditions, please service the air cleaner periodically. If operating the
engine in extremely dust area, the job should be done more often.
NOTICE: NEVER run the engine without the air cleaner. Severe engine damage will
occur.
WARNING:
Explosion and fire hazards.
Never use gasoline or other types of low flash point solvents for cleaning the
air filter. Use only compressed air, mild detergent, and warm water.
Perform the procedure below to service the air cleaner.
1.
Remove the clip (a) of the air cleaner cover (b) and take the element (c) out.
2.
Wash the foam element (c) with detergent and warm water (or non-flammable or
high flash-point cleansing solvents) and dry up.
3.
Clean the air cleaner cover and inner surface with wet cloth, be careful not to
allow the dust entering into the carburetor.
4.
Reinstall the element and put the air cleaner cover on.
