SPARK PLUG
To remove the spark plug:
1. Ensure the engine is off and unit is
cool.
2. Grasp the spark plug boot firmly
and remove from the spark plug.
3. Remove spark plug using a 5/8"
(16mm) deep-well socket or special
spark plug socket.
To install the spark plug:
1. Inspect spark plug for damage,
replace if necessary. Use Champion
RZ7C or equivalent.
2. Verify / adjust spark plug gap. Gap
= .025" (.635mm) (See Figure 11)

3. Carefully insert the spark plug into
the engine head. Tighten the spark
plug by hand to avoid damaging
the engine. (Plug should turn 6-8
times before becoming hand tight.)
4. Torque plug to 105 to 130 in-lbs
(12 to 15 N-m)
5. Connect spark plug boot.

SHAFT SEAL REPLACEMENT
To remove the shaft seal assembly
1. Turn off pump, drain the pump and
remove the spark plug wire
2. Remove the inlet cover.
3. Using an 11/32" socket, remove the
impeller by turning it counter-
clockwise. It may be necessary to
quickly turn the impeller counter-
clockwise to keep the engine from
turning over.
4. One half of the shaft seal is located
inside the impeller hub. This half
(Seal Seat and Rubber Seat Ring)
can be pried out using a small flat
screwdriver (See Figure 12).
5. Remove the diffuser.
6. Remove the engine from the pump
body by removing the four engine
mounting bolts.
7. The other half of the seal (Seal
Head) is located in the pump body.
Use a 1" diameter rod from the
engine side of the pump body to
press the seal out (See Figure 13).
