MAINTENANCE

BEFORE ALL CARE AND MAINTENANCE WORK
• Turn the machine off.
• Wait until the machine has come to a com-
plete standstill.
• Pull out the power plug.
MAINTENANCE
1. Clean motor of dust, chips or other particles.
If operation is excessively dusty or dirty, fre-
quent inspection of motor is required. Vacuum
any particles that may have entered the motor.
2. Replace worn, cut or damaged line cord.
3. Replace worn or damaged collector hose.
4. Replace worn or damaged filter bag.
5. If a vibration should develop, it may indi-
cate excessive wear or damage to the blower
wheel. In this case, with the motor turned OFF
and LOCKED OUT, inspect the blower wheel.
If any damage or excessively worn areas are
noted, replace the blower wheel.
6. Frequently check that all nuts, bolts, screws,
etc. have not loosened due to collector vibra-
tion.
DANGER: Do not operate the dust collec-
tor with a damaged or severely worn blower
wheel. The wheel may disintegrate at oper-
ating speed, and high speed fragments may
cause death or severe personal injury and
property damage.

TROUBLESHOOTING

MOTOR WILL NOT RUN
Defective plug, cord, switch or motor: Check
wiring, replace defective parts.
Blown fuse or circuit breaker: Check fuse or
breaker, replace.
Material wedged between impeller and hous-
ing: Disconnect motor. Remove material that
may be wedged between impeller and blower
housing.
EXCESSIVE IMPELLER NOISE
Large debris or piece of wood between impel-
ler and blower housing: Do not vacuum metal
materials. Turn collector off and let debris set-
tle in drum.
Loose impeller: Disconnect collector from
power source. Remove cylinder guard and
tighten impeller.
14
EXCESSIVE MOTOR NOISE
Defective motor: Have motor checked by quali-
fied motor service technician.
MOTOR FAILS TO DEVELOP FULL POWER OR
MOTOR STALLS
Low voltage to collector caused by circuit
overload: Remove other electric machines or
appliances from circuit.
Low voltage to collector caused by undersized
extension cords: Increase wire gauge size of
extension cords or shorten extension cords.
Low voltage from power source: Request volt-
age check from power company.
MOTOR SLOW TO START OR FAILS TO REACH
FULL SPEED
Burned or defective motor: Check motor, re-
place if necessary.
Defective motor capacitor: Replace capacitor.
Defective motor capacitor switch: Check
switch, replace if necessary.
MOTOR OVERHEATS
Motor overload: Reduce load by slowing dust
production.
Improper motor cooling: Clean sawdust from
motor.
TRIPPING CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSES
Motor overloaded: Reduce load by slowing
dust production.
Improper capacity of circuit breaker or fuses:
Use proper capacity circuit breaker or fuse.
