3. Safety warnings

The reading and understanding of the text in the present manual is fundamental in order to guaran-
tee the proper performance and safe operation of the Mecatecno.
ADULT SUPERVISION (PARENTS/GUARDIANS)
Adult supervision is necessary. It is the adult's responsibility to evaluate the child's skill, ability, expe-
rience and knowledge when allowing him/her to operate the Mecatecno.
The power regulator, which can only be adjusted with a screwdriver, is a key element in supervising
the use of the Mecatecno. The parent or guardian is responsible for making sure the adjustments
and use of the motorbike are always suitable for the child's knowledge and ability.
The motorbike should not be used at night.
WHERE TO RIDE
Local legislation comes before any other consideration and should be reviewed and understood.
The Mecatecno is not to be used on public roads. Operating the Mecatecno on public roads will
endanger other drivers and pedestrians in addition to the Mecatecno rider, exposing him/her to
possible accidents that could result in material or personal damage.
DRIVING REGULATIONS
1. The rider should be seated on the motorbike and he/she should never take passengers, under
any circumstances.
2. The following precautions should be taken:
· Check the terrain and the motorbike speed before driving.
· Take precaution with clothing and long hair as it can get caught or tangled in the motor
bike.
· Comply with the weight limits for the motorbike's optimal stability and performance and
also to avoid structural damage not covered by the warranty.
· Do not drive at night or with low visibility.
· Do not submerge the Mecatecno in water.
· Take precaution with moving or heated parts.
· Wear a standard-compliant helmet.
EQUIPMENT
It is required to wear a standard compliant helmet to operate the MECATECNO. The helmet will avoid
potentially serious injuries and will provide protection from diverse objects that can be propelled
towards the rider when off-roading.
Given the challenges of off-road driving such as gravel and other obstacles that are difficult to
foresee, it is recommended to wear protective gear for knees, elbows, wrists and hands as well as a
proper suit. This equipment will considerably reduce potential injury in case of an accident.
CLEANING
The Mecatecno should never be cleaned with a hose or pressure cleaning equipment. Water could
18
permanently damage the electric components and should be kept away from the accelerator, the
regulator, cables... This kind of damage could cause the motorbike to respond negatively and in turn
cause very dangerous accidents.
Using a damp cloth to clean the Mecatecno will maintain the motorbike in satisfactory condition.
MAINTENANCE
The Mecatecno should be kept clean and dry. Take advantage when cleaning the motorbike to make
sure the tension and settings of all parts are appropriate. Frequently check the tire pressure, tire
wear and speedometer control setting.
Poor maintenance can cause accidents resulting in material and serious personal damage. Before
every outing, make sure the tires are properly inflated and that the screws and nuts are tightly
fastened. The oil and chain setting should also be checked as well as the brake and accelerator
controls that should work freely. Additional maintenance and repair information will be given later in
the present manual.
YOUR SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
With the information provided here in this manual, it is your responsibility to correctly follow the ins-
tructions. Do not use or permit others to use the Mecatecno if it has any defect.
4. Handling/Assembly
Incorrect assembly can cause serious accidents. Carefully read the instructions and in case of
questions, contact a qualified mechanic or the Mecatecno Customer Support Department. Do not
try to dismantle the engine, control unit, batteries, charger, accelerator or cables. If you do so, the
warranty will no longer be valid.
To assemble the Mecatecno, follow the next steps:
1.- Place the motorbike on solid ground with the kickstand lowered in place so that it is stable.
2.- Use an Allen wrench (nº 5 and 6) to equally tighten the upper and side screws once certain the
front fork is correctly aligned forward.
(See instruction sheet provided in model T12)
3.- Adjust the position of the brake levers to the rider's preference and make sure they do not touch
the handlebars by testing the brakes several times. Both brakes should be able to keep the motor-
bike immobile. In case the brakes need to be adjusted, turn to the section of this manual dedicated
to brakes. For beginner riders, adjust the front brake so it does not stop the tire too easily and make
sure the rider knows how the brakes work for each tire.
4.- Check the tire pressure (see section 5.5.1 and 5.5.3)
5.- Charge the batteries. Fully charge the batteries the first time to maximize the battery life.
6.- After these steps are completed and the battery is charged, the motorbike is ready to be opera-
ted.
