INTRODUCTION
The TAWA112 and TAWA215 processor modules are two cards specially suited for use with the
SPM Technology amplifier ECLER APA(DPA)1400/2000.
The TAWA cards have been exclusively designed for setting up bi-amplified sound systems with
AWAK series acoustic enclosures, spectacularly increasing their acoustic performance. They feature
a Linkwitz-Riley type crossover filter with 24dB/oct slope, which confers the system a great precision
and clarity, minimizing cancellation and phase problems caused by other configurations. These
cards also perform active signal processing which effectively improves sonic quality and optimizes
the system's dynamic range.
The TAWA112 card has been specially designed to be included in a compact, high performance
sound system consisting of either 4 AWAK112 enclosures and two AWAK SB118 subwoofers or 2
AWAK112 enclosures and one AWAK SB118 subwoofer. The system can only be set up with two
ECLER APA(DPA) power amps, one for the highs and mids channel and one for the bass channel.
The TAWA215 card has been specially designed to be included in a high performance sound system
consisting either 4 AWAK215 enclosures and two AWAK SB118 subwoofers The system can only be
set up with two ECLER APA(DPA) power amplifiers: One APA(DPA)1400/2000 dedicated to the
mids/highs way and one APA(DPA)1400/2000 for the bass way (APA(DPA)2000 recommended).
CONNECTING INSTRUCTIONS
The TAWA cards are adjusted in factory and just need to be mounted into the amplifier. The
(equalizer) gain adjustments for each band have been carefully studied, so that the system hardly
ever needs additional equalisation. However, in the case of highly deficient room acoustics it is
recommended to attenuate the loudest frequency band instead of boosting the weaker bands, so
that the system is both adequately balanced and the risk of possible loudspeaker damage is
minimized. Remember that the APA(DPA) series amplifiers feature an efficient ANTICLIP system, for
more information refer to the APA(DPA)1400 user manual.
The input attenuation potentiometers on the APA(DPA)1400/2000 should be set totally open.
However, in the case of highly deficient room acoustics, one of the bands can be slightly attenuated
as a first equalization measure before fine-tuning.
IMPORTANT: In order to avoid damage to the loudspeakers, the device start-up sequence must follow
the direction of the audio signal flow, the bass amplifier being the last device to be switched on. The
switch-off should be done in reverse sequence.
INSTALLATION
1. Take off the screws, remove the top cover and the rear blank panel of the amplifier destined to the
mids-highs channel
2. Insert the filter into the slot
3. Remove the two jumpers of the connector found on the power supply PCB and connect the cable
of the filter card (see diagram)
Keep the Jumpers and the blank panel in case you should want to use the amplifier without the filter
in the future.
4. Secure the filter and the top cover with the screws
5. Use the supplied cables (Jack-Jack) to connect the filter's output to the power amplifier destined to
the bass channel at the "STK OUTPUT" socket.
6. The input signal should be connected to the XLR inputs of the mids-highs amplifier.
WARNING: The installation of the filter should only be performed by a qualified technician.
