General instructions
1. Introduction
These general instructions must be readily available to opera-
tors of the electrode at all times. Before using the electrode,
these instructions must be read and understood by all operat-
ing personnel.
The METTLER TOLEDO electrode versions InPro
I nPro 4501 fixed cable are low-maintenance, temperature-com-
pensated pH combination electrodes containing polymer elec-
trolyte (Xerolyt
I nPro 4501 family. An integrated temperature sensor (RTD)
provides automatic compensation of the electrode slope to
ensure accurate readings.
The InPro 4501 family is suitable for pH measurements in:
– emulsions and suspensions
– sulfide-bearing media
– solutions containing heavy metals (lead, mercury, silver,
etc.)
– processes with rapid pressure fluctuations (within the given
range)
– measurements in wastewater and in decontamination pro-
cesses for industrial effluents
– heavily contaminated media
ATTENTION: T he InPro 4501 family electrodes are unsuitable

2. Safety remarks

The InPro 4501 family of electrodes is intended solely for the
purpose described in §1 above. The electrodes consist partly
of glass. If they are to be cleaned or calibrated using acid or
alkaline solutions, protective clothing (goggles and gloves)
must be worn. In addition, local and in-house-safety regula-
tions must be observed.
We recommend that the electrodes only be put into operation
in conjunction with original products / accessories from
M ETTLER TOLEDO. The electrodes may be operated and
s erviced only by personnel familiar with the equipment in
q uestion and who have read and understood these instruc-
tions.
