2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to the directive of electromag-
netic compatibility 89/336/EEC and the low voltage
directive 73/23/EEC.
The unit uses dangerous mains voltage (230 V~). In
order to prevent a shock hazard, do not open the
housing. Leave servicing to authorized, skilled per-
sonnel only. Furthermore, any guarantee claim ex-
pires if the unit has been opened.
With the voltmeter lethally high voltages can be
measured. Be especially careful in case of voltages
from 42 V onwards. Always pay attention to the per-
fect state of the test leads. Damaged test leads must
be replaced.
For operation observe in any case the following items:
The unit is only suitable for indoor use. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient tem-
perature range 0 – 40 °C).
The heat which is generated in the unit has to be car-
ried off via air circulation. Therefore, do not cover the
air vents of the housing and the heat sink of the rear
side with anything.
Do not insert anything into the air vents. This could
result in electric shock.
Do not set the unit into operation, and immediately
disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket if:
1. damage at the unit or mains cable can be seen,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or simi-
lar accident,
3. there are malfunctions.
The unit must in any case be repaired by authorized,
skilled personnel.
6
A damaged mains cable must only be replaced by
the manufacturer or authorized, skilled personnel.
Never pull the mains plug out of the mains socket by
means of the mains cable.
If the unit is used for purposes other than originally
intended, if it is operated in the wrong way or not
repaired by authorized, skilled personnel, no liability
can be taken over for possible damage.
For cleaning only used a dry, soft cloth, by no means
chemicals or water.
If the unit is to be put out of operation definitively,
bring it to a local recycling plant for disposal.
Important for U.K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accord-
ance with the following code:
green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow
must be connected to the terminal in the plug
which is marked with the letter E or by the earth
symbol
or coloured green or green and yel-
low.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
3 Applications
The unit PS-3030D is an electronically regulated power
supply with switchable digital display for the output volt-
age and the output current. The output voltage is con-
tinuously adjustable from 0 to 30 V, the current limiting
continuously adjustable from 0 to 3 A. The digital dis-
play can also be used for external measurements as
digital voltmeter up to max. 200 V DC voltage.
4 Operation
1) Connect the mains plug into a mains socket
(230 V~/50 Hz) with earthing contact (Schuko)
installed by authorized personnel.
2) Switch on the unit with the mains switch (1).
3) The POWER LED (2) lights as long as the current
limiting of the power supply unit does not respond. If
necessary, slightly turn up the control CURRENT (8).
4.1 Power supply unit
1) Disengage the selector switch button "INT EXT"
(5), i. e. it must not be pressed in. Thus, the digital
display is switched to internal measurement.
2) Disengage the selector switch button "V A" (4), i. e.
it must not be pressed in. Thus, the unit is switched
to internal voltage measurement.
