6 Operation
6.1 Switching on and selection of the
operating mode
With connection of the mains cable to the 230 V
mains, the unit is switched on and ready for opera-
tion. The power / DMX signal LED lights continu-
ously. For switching to another operating mode,
configure the DIP switches as described below:
6.2 Control via DMX
The outputs of the SW-4DMX can be switched on
by DMX controller (DMX value > 160) and switched
off (DMX value < 100).
Select the following operating modes with the
switch FUNCTION (10):
1. Switch in the upper position: Independent oper-
ation of all channels; the four outputs are con-
trolled via one DMX channel each.
2. Switch position ON: Parallel operation of all
channels via a common DMX channel.
6.2.1 Adjusting the DMX address
To be able to operate the SW-4DMX with a DMX
light controller, the DMX start address for the 1
switching channel must be adjusted. For independ-
ent operation the other three channels are then
automatically assigned to the following addresses.
Adjust the start address as a binary number via
the DIP switches (10) No. 1 to 9. The start address
results by adding the values of the positions of the
DIP switches which are set to "ON", e. g.

DMX start address 1

DMX start address 13 = 1 + 4 + 8

6.3 Control via an analog light console
Prior to the control via an analog light controller,
one of the DIP switches 1 to 9 must be set to posi-
tion ON so that the SW-4DMX does not operate in
the light sequencer mode. For control, a DC volt-
age from 0 V to 10 V is used at the jack ANALOG
IN (9). It is reliably switched on at a voltage > 6 V
and switched off when the voltage falls below 4 V.
6.4 Automatic light sequencer
The SW-4DMX can also be operated as an auto-
matic light sequencer without a controller when
using spotlights or other lights. For this purpose,
set all DIP switches (10) to the upper position. Then
an internal programme takes over the light
sequencer control. If the switch No. 10 "FUNC-
TION" is set to position ON, all lamps will flash in
sync.
