2 Safety Notes

The units (monitor, power supply unit, and charger for
the rechargeable battery) correspond to the directive
89/336/EEC for electromagnetic compatibility. The
power supply unit and the charger additionally corre-
spond to the low voltage directive 73/23/EEC.
Attention! The power supply unit and the charger are
supplied with hazardous mains voltage (230 V~). Leave
servicing to skilled personnel only. Inexpert handling
may cause an electric shock hazard.
It is essential to observe the following items:
The monitor set is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
the components of the set against dripping water and
splash water, high air humidity, and heat (admissible
ambient temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
Do not cover the ventilation slots on the monitor and
on the power supply unit. The heat being generated in
the units must be dissipated via air circulation.
Do not set the monitor into operation, and immediate-
ly disconnect the power supply unit or the charger
from the mains socket if
1. there is visible damage to the units,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or similar
accident,
3. there are malfunctions.
The units must in any case be repaired by skilled per-
sonnel.
For cleaning only use a dry or slightly wet, soft cloth,
by no means chemicals or water.
No guarantee claims for the set and no liability for any
resulting personal damage or material damage will be
accepted if the units or the rechargeable battery are
used for other purposes than originally intended, if
they are not correctly connected, operated, or not
repaired in an expert way.
For charging the rechargeable battery only use the
supplied charger. Never directly connect the negative
6
contact to the positive contact on the rechargeable
battery.
Never throw the rechargeable battery into the fire. Do
not put it into the household rubbish but only take it to
a special waste disposal (e. g. take it directly back to
your retailer or take it to a public collective container).
If the units of the set are to be put out of operation de-
finitively, take them to a local recycling plant for dis-
posal which is not harmful to the environment.
3 Applications
The mobile monitor set CCTV-1TEST is suitable for uni-
versal applications, e. g. multimedia applications or for
testing the components of a surveillance system. The set
includes: a TFT LCD colour monitor, a power supply unit,
a 12 V rechargeable battery (2.3 Ah), a charger for the
rechargeable battery, a nylon bag with carrying strap for
the transport, two different audio/video connection
cables, and an extension cable for connection of the
power supply with on/off switch.
4 Setting-up
To set up the monitor, unfold the supporting bracket (14).
Via the jack (6) with thread [6.3 mm (
side the monitor can also be screwed onto a support.
5 Connection
5.1 Connecting the signal source
For the connection of the signal source (camera, DVD-
player, etc.) two different cables are supplied with the
unit. Select the suitable cable depending on the connec-
tions of the signal source:
– 2 x angled 3.5 mm plug to
1 x phono plug and 1 x BNC plug
Connect the 2-pole 3.5 mm plug to the video input
(3) and the 3-pole 3.5 mm plug to the audio input
(5) of the monitor. Connect the BNC plug to the
video output and the phono plug to the audio out-
put of the signal source.
– 2 x 3.5 mm plug to 3 x phono plug
Connect the 2-pole 3.5 mm plug (yellow) to the vid-
eo input (3) and the 3-pole 3.5 mm plug (black) to the
audio input (5) of the monitor. Connect the yellow
phono plug to the video output of the signal source
and the red (right) and white (left) phono plugs to the
stereo audio output of the signal source.
5.2 Connecting the earphone or headphone
It is possible to connect an earphone or a headphone
with a 3.5 mm plug to the stereo jack EAR PHONE (4).
Then the speakers (13) are switched off.
Caution! Never adjust a very high volume in case of
earphone or headphone operation. Permanent high
volumes may damage your hearing! The human ear
gets accustomed to high volumes which do not seem
to be that high any more after some time. Therefore,
do not further increase a high volume which has once
been adjusted after getting used to it.
