1. Place handle i n upright position. Agitator brushes willnotrotate w hile
handle isinupright position.
2.Hose l ength m ay require that m achine beplaced atthe topofthestairs t o
clean u pper half o fstairway and atbottom ofstairs t oclean l ower half.
To prevent machine from falling, use extra c aution when c leaning onstairs.
Donot p lace c leaner onstairs.
Donot p oint tools t oward people orpets.
3.Dry hands and plug cleaner into aproperly grounded outlet.
4. Pre-spray the carpeted s tairby holding the toolaboutoneinch
above t he carpet and push i tforward while pressing the trigger (equals one
wet s troke, Fig. 4 .4).
5.Position tool a gainst theriser and slightly press i tinto carpet pile. Press the
trigger and pull thetool s lowly over the carpet (second wet s troke). Release
trigger atend ofstroke.
6.Lifttool, a ndposition it against riser. Pull toolslowly o ver c arpet without
pressing trigger (dry stroke, Fig. 4 .5.)
7.Overlap strokes by1/2inch tohelp prevent streaking.
Itisbest t oalternate wet a nd dry strokes asdescribed above. End withmore
dry strokes toaid infaster drying o fcarpet.
To avoid o ver saturating carpet, donotuse more t han 4wet s trokes over a ny
one area. Always end with drystrokes.
Ifadditional cleaning isnecessary, wait u ntil the carpet iscompletely dry before
using t he tool a gain.
Place h ose end firmly i ntohose pocket after u se. F ailure todosocould lead
tosuction loss.
