Intended use
The HK 85 portable circular saw can be turned into
a groove cutter in combination with this groove unit.
The groove cutter is designed for guided routing in
wood and materials similar to wood with dust ex-
traction. It is not suitable for making angled cuts or
plunge cuts.
Only use the original Festool adjustable grooving
cutter .
The machine is designed and approved for use by
trained persons or specialists only.
The user is liable for improper or non-in-
tended use.

Always pull the mains plug out of the socket be-
fore performing any type of work on the ma-
chine!
Hot and sharp tools

Do not use insert tools that are blunt or defec-
tive.
Wear protective gloves.
Removing the saw blade
Swivel saw to 0° position before replacing the
saw blade and set maximum cutting depth.
To replace the saw blade, place the saw on the
edge of the table.
Turn lever [2-2] as far as stop.
Open the screw [2-5] using the Allen key[2-1].
Hold the pendulum guard open [2-8] only with
retractor lever [2-3].
Remove the saw blade [2-4] with clamping
flange [2-6] and rear flange[2-7].
Carefully release the retractor lever [2-3] and
allow the pendulum guard to swivel back [2-8]
to its final position.
Fitting the groove unit
Follow the fitting sequence.
1. Lower guard
Push the lower guard [3-1] onto the pendulum
guard of the portable circular saw.
Push it until the locknut is seated behind the
pendulum guard of the portable circular saw
[3A] – push it as far as possible. The screws will
need to be loosened slightly in order to do this.
Tighten the two screws [3-2] using a Torx span-
ner (left-hand thread).
2. Upper guard
Push the upper guard [4-1] onto the cover of the
portable circular saw.
