Nikken recommends that the cartridge be replaced at least every 12 months, or whenever
the red light illuminates, whichever comes first.
REPLACEMENT CARTRIDGES
For this system to perform as represented in the Performance Data Sheet, use only
Nikken
PiMag Deluxe filter cartridges, Item #13152.
You may order replacement cartridges online at www.nikken.com.
REPLACEMENT SEQUENCE
1. Remove the lid assembly by turning counterclockwise until it separates from the
housing. As you lift it off, the filter cartridge remains attached to the lid.
2. Hold the lid and rotate the cartridge counterclockwise to remove. Discard the filter cartridge.
3. Slide out the battery tray from the rear of the lid, as shown in Figure 4. Remove and
discard the used battery.
4. Insert replacement battery with the "+" side of the battery up, as seen in Figure 4.
®
DO NOT reinstall the battery tray at this time.
5. Fill the housing with warm soapy water and wipe the interior surfaces with a clean,
new, nonabrasive cloth. Then drain the water out. Fill the housing with rinse water and
add one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide. Let stand for 15 minutes.
IMPORTANT — DO NOT install the replacement cartridge at this time.
6. Replace the lid on the housing. Flush hydrogen peroxide solution out of the unit by
turning the main water faucet on and pulling the diverter pin. Let the system flush for
approximately two minutes, then turn water off.
7. Remove the lid and pour out the remaining water. Rinse housing thoroughly.
8. Thread the replacement cartridge clockwise onto the post on the underside of the lid.
Tighten until snug. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Reattach the lid firmly on the housing.
9. Insert the battery tray into the rear of the lid. The filter life indicator lights will
automatically begin a diagnostic sequence, flashing the lights five times before
stopping. This resets the filter life indicator to zero gallons.
10.Position the spout so that water will flow into the sink. Turn on the cold water faucet
and pull the diverter pin.
IMPORTANT — allow the system to flush with running water for 15 minutes.
Before using the system it is necessary to run water through it for this length of time. This
clears the cartridge of air and any carbon particles remaining from the manufacturing
process. This procedure should be repeated whenever the cartridge is replaced.
