2. Maintenance

The Typhoon is maintenance-free.
However, the filters should be clea-
ned at regular intervals (approx.
1-3 months) depending on the
calcareous content of the water.

2.1 Filter

1. Turn off the Typhoon by pres-
sing the stop button "0" (fig. 3).
2. Close the ball valve for the inlet
water.
3. Disconnect the inlet hose.
4. Dismount the filter placed be-
tween the inlet coupling and
the hose and place it in a scale
dissolvent until the calcerous
substance has been dissolved.
5. Rinse the clean filter thoroughly
and remount it.

2.2 Long stops

If long production stops are
planned (more than 6 months) and
the pump is emptied of water, it
is recommended that the pump is
secured as follows:
1. Remove the coupling guard.
2. Spray a couple of drops of
silicone oil on the shaft between
the pump head and the coup-
ling.
Carefully follow the instructions
given in the manual provided by
the pump supplier.

3. Start

N.B. Do not start the pump until
the equipment has been filled with
water.
1. Connect the inlet/outlet hose.
2. Turn on the water supply.
3. Activate the spray handle until
only water comes out of the
nozzle.

3.1 New units

To prevent problems when starting
a new unit, the system should be
rinsed thoroughly through and
vented.
Venting of pump
1. Loosen the drain plug (A, Fig. 6)
one or two turns until water and
air come out.
18
N.B. Never loosen the drain
plug while the pump is running.
This can damage the gasket.
Fig. 6
2. Retighten the drain plug.
3. Start the pump so that the last
air pockets can be pressed to
the top of the pump.
At the same time, check that
the discharge direction of the
pump is correct. See the ar-
rows on top of the motor.
4. Stop the pump.
5. Loosen the drain plug one or
two turns again until only water
comes out.
6. Retighten the drain plug.
The Typhoon is now ready for ope-
ration. Press "I" on the control
panel.

4. Daily operation

4.1 Start
1. Turn on the water supply.
2. Press "I" on the control panel
to start. The machine will turn
into standby mode and await a
signal from the flow switch.

4.2 Stop

1. Press "0" on the control panel
to stop.
2. Turn off the water supply.
Note ! Of safety reasons it is im-
portant to disconnect the plug from
the socket and to disconnect the
water supply after use.

4.3 Direction of rotation

It is important that the direction of
rotation is correct as the use of a
wrong direction of rotation for a
long time may damage the com-
pressor.
4.3.1
Typhoon
Check the direction of rotation
of the unit by checking the water
pressure on the pressure gauge
for water. The pressure must be 19
bar + inlet pressure.
If the pressure is much lower
(approx. 12 bar), the direction of
rotation is wrong. Turn the phase
sequence on the phase shifter
plug. The machine is now ready for
operation.

4.3.2
Typhoon Dual
The machine features a phase
sequence relay ensuring the cor-
rect phase sequence. If the phase
sequence is wrong, the error
lamp will light up. The error can
be corrected by turning the phase
sequence on the phase shifter
plug. The machine is now ready for
operation.

4.4 Rinsing the injector

IMPORTANT: The injector must
always be rinsed thoroughly
through after use. Remains of
topax detergent or topax disinfec-
tants may clog the injector so it
needs to be rinsed or replaced.
The following procedure will
remove topax detergent and/or
remains of topax disinfectants from
the injector. See user guide for
details.
1. Remove User Pack, if any.
2. Turn handle on the right side of
the Typhoon into foam position.
3. Open the shut-off valve.
4. Place a User Pack with clean
water in the holder or - without
User Pack - place the hose in a
bucket or can with clean water.
5. Put the User Pack back again.
6. Activate the spray handle until
clean water comes out of the
nozzle (approx. 20 seconds).
N.B. This procedure should be fol-
lowed both on the topax detergent
and the topax disinfectant side (if
this is installed).
