FIRST USE
•
Remove all packaging materials and stickers
from the appliance.
•
Place the appliance on a stable and level
surface at work height, near an earthed
socket. Clear an area of 5 cm minimum
around the appliance. Do not position it right
below kitchen cabinets.
The bottom of the appliance will warm up slightly
as well. Use a heat-resistant (non-combustible) mat
if you have doubts about the heat-resistance of the
underlying surface.
•
Make sure that the thermostat is set to 'Min'
and that the hotplate is free of any objects
(this applies to the Classic Cooking Plate Duo
and the following steps apply to both models).
9
•
Insert the plug in the wall socket.
•
Turn the thermostat clockwise to the 'Max'
position. The indicator light of the hotplate will
light up. As soon as the hotplate has reached
the right temperature, the indicator light will
alternate on and off.
•
Allow the hotplate to thoroughly warm up for
10 minutes.
It is normal for some unusual-smelling smoke to be
generated the first time the appliance is used. This
is normal and will pass. Make sure there is enough
ventilation.
•
Turn the thermostat anticlockwise to the 'Min'
position. The indicator light of the hotplate
should no longer light up.
•
Allow the hotplate to cool and remove the plug
from the socket. You can now use the
appliance (see "Use").
USE
•
Place the pan on the hotplate.
•
Always use pans suitable for cooking on
electric hotplates and with a level base to
ensure good contact.
•
The pan's diameter should be equal or slightly
bigger than that of the hotplate.
•
Make sure that the pan is in the centre of the
hotplate and that the handle(s) of the pan are
in a convenient and safe position.
•
Insert the plug in the wall socket.
•
Turn the hotplate's thermostat clockwise to
the desired position. The indicator light of the
hotplate will turn on and off once the hotplate
has reached the set temperature. Then the
indicator light will alternately switch on and off.
By turning the adjustment knob from its minimum
to its maximum setting, it is possible to set the
temperature from keep warm and defrost, to simmer
and bring to a boil, frying and grilling, and finally
rapid boil.
•
When you're done, turn the thermostat
anticlockwise to the 'Min' position.
•
Remove the plug from the socket. After
switching off, the hotplate will remain hot for
a while. Make sure that you don't burn
yourself. You can use this heat to keep the pan
warm for a while.
•
Leave the appliance to cool. This should take
about an hour.
•
Clean the appliance (see "Cleaning and
Maintenance and").
