Hard Wire Connection
1. Remove wire inspection cover located on the right rear side
of the unit when facing the controls. (See 5 )
2. Locate the terminal block inside the unit.
3. Bring power leads from a properly sized circuit breaker or
disconnect switch through the knockout provided on the
unit.
4. Use copper wire only. Tighten connections properly to a
minimum of 4.25 newton meters (40 inch pounds).
5. A grounding screw is provided near the electrical terminals.
An equipment grounding conductor must be properly
connected to it.
6. Replace and secure wire inspection cover.

GENERAL

The Quick-Therm Salamander is equipped with two main
functions COOK or HOLD. The COOK function uses the
intensity of all three heating elements, or any desired
combination of the heating elements. The HOLD function only
activates the two side heating elements to maintain the cooking
temperature reached during the pervious cooking cycle.
WARNING
The unit is not waterproof. DO NOT submerge in water. To
prevent any injury or damage, do not operate if unit has
been submerged in water.

Unit should be cleaned daily for sanitary reasons and to
avoid unit malfunctions.
Set-Up
Before turning the Salamander on for the first time, remove all
the packaging material and clean the unit thoroughly, removing
all the protective industrial grease.
NOTICE
Use only non-abrasive cleaners and pads. Abrasive
cleaners and scouring pads could scratch the finish of
your unit, marring its appearance and making it
susceptible to dirt accumulation.
1. Clean unit with a sponge or soft cloth dampened with water
and a mild detergent.
2. Wipe the grill with a sponge or soft cloth dampened with
water only.

Cord and Plug Connection
Units supplied with power cord require field installation of
proper electrical plug. For safe and proper operation the
plug must be proper for the electrical specifications of the
unit, power supply and be grounded.
If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced
by Hatco, an Authorized Service Agent, or a person with
similar qualifications to avoid a hazard.
• On units supplied with power cord, connect the proper plug
to the cord, making sure the plug is rated for the specific
load and the plug matches a suitable receptacle.
• Plug and receptacle must be grounded in accordance with
current standards.

CONTROL PANEL

The control panel on the Salamander has a main POWER knob
that turns the power On or Off. Three ON/OFF push buttons
with individual LED displays, allow the user to visually see
operational status of the three heating elements. The COOK
and HOLD functions of the Salamander are operated from one
push button that toggles between the two functions. A lit LED
will identify which function is in operation. The ENCODER knob
is used for the timer setting that is digitally displayed during
cooking operations. The ENCODER knob is used for setting
one of eight preset temperature settings and is digitally
displayed during the Hold function. The timer and the
temperature settings share the same digital display on the
control panel. The Cook or Hold function is controlled by the
START/STOP button which also has individual LED displays
allowing the user to visually see the operating mode.
