3.7.3 Storage from a stored program.
Beginning with a previously saved program, the operator may
edit the data in the memory to update the program, or to
identify new parameters to save to another program.
3.7.3.1 Updating
- After turning on the machine, select the parameters to be
edited and edit them.
- Hold down the L button for more than 3 seconds, until the
storage is confirmed (program symbol changes from flashing
to steady).
3.7.3.2 Storage to a new program
- After turning on the machine, select the parameters to be
edited and edit them.
- Perform a (however brief) welding cycle.
- Briefly press the selector switch L to display your required
program.
- Hold down the button L until your storage is confirmed
(program symbol changes from flashing to steady).
3.7.4 Welding with synergy.
The purpose of "synergy" is to offer the operator a quick guide
to TIG welding parameter setting. It is therefore no
compulsory working procedure, but only a suggestion.
Logic: The operator sets the type of material to be welded, the
welding position and thickness in relation to the welding
process; an electrode diameter is suggested based on these
choices, and if confirmed, the machine prepares for welding.
Turning on synergy.
Briefly press (for less than 0.7 seconds) the key D1: the LED Y
(Syn) lights up simultaneously with the LED Z (material). The
display E1 goes off and the display H1 displays a message
according to the material to be welded (see description of LED
Z). Turn the knob K1 to choose.
Pressing the button D1 again confirms the choice of thickness
and causes the LED A1 to light up; the display H1 shows the
available welding positions (see description of LED A1).
Turn the knob K1 to make a selection. Pressing the button D1
confirms the choice of position and causes the LED B1 to light
up. The display E1 shows the set current, while the display H1
shows the thickness in millimetres corresponding to that
current (see description of B1).
Pressing the button D1 again confirms the choice of thickness
and causes the LED C1 to light up.
One or more electrode diameters are suggested based on the
set choices of material, position, thickness and current.
The recommended electrode will be suggested first and the
numerical value of the diameter will always be steadily lit, next
to the letter A; if the amp setting selected for welding falls
within the current range of two diameters, a second choice of
an electrode diameter will only be suggested if the encoder K1
is turned.
The second choice will also be displayed as steadily lit. By
turning the encoder further, the display H1 will show the
diameter above the second choice and the diameter below the
first choice flashing.
Given that the electrode diameter mainly defines the start level
N and the minimum current T1, the operator may choose a
combination that is not recommended.
The operator then has two choices:
1.
Exit the synergy mode without confirming the choices
made. To do so, briefly press the button D1, the LED Y
will go off and the panel will display the settings in use
before entering the synergetic mode.
2.
Confirm the synergy by pressing the button D1 for longer
than 0.7 sec. At this point, all synergy functions are set
and, if they are selected using the button M, the display
H1 will show the message "AU" (automatic).
The LED Y will remain lit to confirm that the parameters have
been set.
Summing up, when you confirm the electrode diameter (by
holding down the button D1 when the LED C1 is selected) the
start, wave, Hz, balance and current T1 functions are arranged
according to the automatic logic described earlier on. When
the electrode is confirmed, the LED C1 goes off and the LED Y
lights up.

4 REMOTE CONTROLS

The following remote controls may be connected to adjust the
welding current for this welding machine:
art. 535802 Torch ABITIG 26, 4m,
art. 535805 Torch ABITIG 26 UP-DOWN 4m,
art. 535806 Water-cooled torch ABITIG 18, 4m,
art. 535807 Water-cooled torch ABITIG 18 UP-DOWN 4m,
art. 570007 Foot control.
Controls including a potentiometer are used to adjust the
welding current from the minimum to the maximum current
value - set via the knob K1.
Controls based on the UP/DOWN logic are used to adjust the
welding current from the minimum to the maximum current
value.
The remote control settings are always active in the PL
program, while they are not active in a stored program.
