5- Instructions for use
1. Open the main system purge (B on figure 1) of the pipework that is to be tested (A).
2. Connect the water supply hose (F) to the electric pressure test pump. There are two ways of feeding water to
the electric pressure test pump:
a. directly from the mains water system (minimum pressure 1 bar) - E on the overall view,
b. using a container situated no more than 1 metre higher than the electric pump (D on the overall view).
3. Connect the high pressure hose (C) to the electric pressure test pump and to the pipework (A).
4. Open valve V2 by turning in the direction marked OPEN. Turn valve V1 in the direction marked -bar until it
stops.
5. Connect the power supply (I on the overall view): power supply must be single phase 230V, 50/60 Hz (110
V). Switch on the electric pressure test pump (G on the overall view) and run it until all of the air is removed from
the pipework being tested.
6 Switch the pump off (G) and close the main purge (B).
7. In order to reach the required pressure:
a. switch the pump back on,
b. slowly turn valve V1 in the direction marked +bar to increase the pressure until the pressure gauge
indicates the required pressure (F),
c. fully close valve V2 by turning in the direction marked CLOSED.
8. If the pressure gauge indicates a pressure above that required:
a. fully open valve V2 by turning in the direction marled OPEN and open valve V1 by turning in the
sense marked -bar until the required pressure is reached,
b. close valve V2 by turning in the direction marked CLOSED.
c. switch off the electric pressure test pump. Once the required pressure has been reached, avoid
running the pump for more than 1 and a half minutes.
9. Once the test had been completed, fully open the valve by turning in the direction marked OPEN and turn
valve V1 in the direction marked -bar to release the pressure.
Warning
Only use with clean, fresh-water or non-aggressive liquids.
6- Periodical maintenance
Before connecting the pump to the mains electric and water supplies:
a. Carefully check the condition of the high pressure hose and electric cable. If necessary replace with
new parts.
b. Check the water filter (ref: 753567) that is located on the pressure-test pump side of the water feed
connection (F). Clean or replace if necessary.
It is highly recommended to empty any water from the internal system if the equipment remains unused for a
long period of time.
Avoid storing the equipment in very cold areas or where there is a risk of freezing.
Keep the water filter clean and in good condition.
If the equipment is used with anti-freeze products such as Glycol, Tyfocor, etc..., run the equipment with
clean fresh water to clean the internal systems after each use.
7- Repair-work and changing spare parts
Changing spare parts, general maintenance of the pump and operational checks should always be carried out
by authorised VIRAX service centres.
8- Applications
Tests for leaks and pressure resistance of pipework and containers used in all kinds of installations.
Hydraulic heating and compressed air systems, steam vapour, refrigeration, oil, sprinkler installations; thermal
solar energy systems, etc.
Manufacture of boilers (checking for leaks in heating coils) and pressurised containers or reservoirs.
Filling pipework circuits.
