5. Automatic levelling

5.1 AUTOMATIC mode with monitoring function
After switching on, the laser will be in AUTOMATIC mode, i.e. the laser will automatically level
itself horizontally. In this mode, any small vibrations of the laser are automatically compensated
for (monitoring function). If significant changes in the laser position should occur that can no
longer be regulated by the automatic control, the laser stops its rotary movement and the laser
beam and the indicator 6 will flash. In this case, the laser must be switched off and on
again. It is essential that the position of the laser is checked and corrected if necessary.
5.1.1 Monitoring function switch-on delay
When the rotation laser is used on an elevating tripod, the laser is often switched on first and
only then moved to its final working level. In order to avoid the rotation being stopped due to the
possibly large vibrations that may occur when adjusting the height, the monitoring function does
not switch itself on until ca. 30 seconds after the rotation laser has been switched on. Until acti-
vation the PRIMUS-H tries to compensate all deviations of position.
5.1.2 Automatic levelling mode
If the rotation laser is in the AUTOMATIC mode and is moved from the horizontal position
to the vertical position, then the rotation stops and the indicator 6 and the laser beam will
begin to flash.
Note:
• If the automatic levelling fails (e.g. due to inadequate coarse alignment by means of the
in-built spirit level – see above) the indicator 6 will be permanently lit. In this case, the la-
ser must be switched off and the coarse alignment repeated.
• If the PRIMUS-H is not able to carry out automatic levelling within 2 minutes (e.g. due to
significant ground vibration) the indicator 6 will flash. In this case too, the laser must be
switched off and on again.

5.2 MANUAL mode

Automatic levelling can be deactivated by pressing the button 8. MANUAL mode will
be signalled by the indicator 7 being permanently illuminated. Automatic levelling is
reactivated by pressing the button 8 once more.
