Acoustic power level measured in accordance with UNI EN ISO 3744 at a pressure of 6.3 bar during operation.
Levels of vibrations at the handle determined by using ISO 8662-1; ISO 8662-12; ISO 5349
TOOL NOISE
Table 1 shows the Acoustic power level. Ear protectors must be worn where the noise level exceeds 85 dB (A) at the
operator position.
The noise risk is related not just to the intensity of the source, but also to the exposure time, therefore, use of the
individual tool during the working day should be evaluated and the provisions in force in each country to safeguard users
must be complied with.
TOOL VIBRATION
Table 1 indicates the frequency-weighted R.M.S. acceleration value (vibration level) produced by the tool.
Vibration risk is related to the intensity of the vibration source and the length of exposure. Vibration risk must be assessed
an a case by case basis taking into account these two factors. Measures should be taken to protect the user against
vibration injury in accordance with current Health and Safety Regulations.
The formula and table can be used to calculate the daily exposure level for a tool using the use coefficient c. The use
coefficient c for grinders is between 10 and 30%.
Daily exposure
level
Prolonged continuous work with machines which are sources of vibrations may cause various types of pathologies
(cumulative trauma) of the vascular system, the nervous system and the skeleton, such as:
Raynaud's syndrome (or VWF, vibration white finger, or TVD) in which the blood vessels, whose functionality is
impaired by exposure to vibrations, tend to block the flow of blood to the tissues;
carpal tunnel syndrome, caused by the median nerve being trapped in the passage through the carpal tunnel;
inflammation of tendons and the tendon sheaths (Tenosynovitis) and of the membranes which protect the joints
(Synovitis);
microfractures of bone parts.
To reduce the risks caused by prolonged continuous exposure, the exposure time to vibrations during the working day
must be reduced.
