HALFEN HUC
Assembling example
All steel products listed in the HUC
Product Information are with excep-
tion of the thread areas, the thread
socket areas and the bending areas
generally weldable. Nevertheless each
kind of welding incl. tack-welding may
aff ect mechanical properties of the
products negatively.
If weldings in special cases are not
avoidable, the following must be con-
sidered:
• reduced functionality and reduced
load capacities may occur
• coatings if existent must be
removed before welding; vapours
caused by the welding process must
be exhausted with appropriate tools
• mandatory protective equipement
must be worn
• obligation of current regulations
regarding the welding process is in
responsibility of the customer
!
HALFEN assumes no liability for
damages to HALFEN products or
consequential damages, caused by
any welding outside of the HALFEN
production-process.
9. Pouring the concrete for the column
The concrete cover specifi ed in the
design drawing also applies to the
stud heads.
Anchorage in columns: the stud heads
must be positioned behind the rear
longitudinal column reinforcement.

The gap between the positioning
plate and the formwork needs to be
protected against concrete penetration.
Redundant nailing holes etc. must be
sealed by suitable adhesive tape.
The positioning plate needs to be
secured in place by inserting bolts for
the whole installation process; espe-
cially when transporting prefabricated
elements. This also protects the
threads from dirt and corrosion.
10. Assembly of the structural steel
element
min 1 d
The minimum screw depth of 1 d
must be observed.
The fi xing bolts (standard ISO
metric) must be in accordance
with the engineer's specifi cation.
The tightening torques of the
bolts must be adapted to the spe-
cifi c conditions, at least fi nger-ti-
ght. To prevent excessive stresses
in the connection, the given maxi-
c
mum preload values (see table)
must not be exceeded.
