GAS (METHANE GAS) IGNITION AND
REGULATION
It is essential to bleed air out of the pipes, if this has not already
been done when connecting the burner to the gas pipe, taking all
necessary precautions and leaving all doors and windows open.
Open the union on the pipe near the burner and then open the
gas on/off cocks a little way. When the characteristic odour of gas
can be smelled, close the shut-off valve. Wait long enough for
the gas in the room to disperse, depending on local conditions,
then connect the burner to the gas pipe again.
Check that there is water in the boiler and that the gate
valves on the system are open.
make absolutely sure that the products of combustion can
be released freely (boiler and flue dampers must be open).
Check that the voltage of the electrical line to which the
equipment has to be connected is appropriate for the burner and
that the electrical wiring (engine or main line) are appropriate for
the available voltage. Check that all electrical connections made
on-site are performed correctly as shown in our wiring diagram.
Make sure that the combustion head enters the furnace to the
extent specified by the boiler manufacturer.
Apply a pressure gauge of appropriate scale (if the amount of
pressure to be used allows it, it is preferable to use a water
column instrument; do not use instruments with indicator hands
for low pressures) to the pressure intake on the gas pressure
switch.
With the switch on the burner control panel switched to "O" and
the master switch turned on, manually close the remote control
and check that the motor revolves in the correct direction. If
necessary, exchange the position of the two cables in the line
that feeds the motor in order to invert the direction of revolution,
when using the inverter see the specific ACH 550 instructions.
Connect (pos. I) the switch (1) on the control panel to power
the equipment and close the thermostat line turning the selector
(2) in the "closed" position. If thermostats or pressure switches
(safety and boiler) are closed as well, the operating cycle will
start. The equipment turns on. For the regulation of the burner,
see "RAPID GUIDE TO PROGRAMMING" and the specific
instruction manual for the "BT 320" electronic cam .
After setting the "minimum" (load 200), turn the burner toward
the maximum using the controls on the "BT 320" keypad and
adjust all the points (from load 200 to load 999) in accordance
with the adjustment table. (Refer to the instructions for the "BT
320" electronic cam in the attached manual).
We recommend you check combustion using the appropriate
instrument at all intermediate points on the modulation route
(from load 200 to load 999), checking the flow rate of gas by
reading the meter.
Now check the efficiency of automatic modulation by switching
the "BT 320" equipment to the "AUTOMATIC" position. With this
setting the modulation function will cut in automatically only in
response to requests from the boiler probe.
The air pressure switch makes the equipment safe
(block) if the air pressure is not at the expected value. The
pressure switch must therefore be set to close the contact
(envisaged to be closed during operation) when the air
pressure in the burner reaches the sufficient value.
To verify that the air pressure switch is operating correctly,
while the burner is ignited at its minimum setting, increase the
adjustment value until the switch triggers instant stop "block"
of the burner. Release the burner by pushing the appropriate
button and readjust the pressure switch until preventilation air
pressure can be detected.
The pressure switches for checking gas pressure (minimum
and maximum) prevent the burner from operating when
gas pressure is between the expected values. The specific
function of the pressure control switches clearly reveals that
the pressure switch for controlling minimum pressure must
use the contact which is closed when the pressure switch
detects a pressure value above the value it is set to; on the
other hand, the pressure switch for controlling maximum
pressure must use the contact that is closed when the pressure
switch detects a pressure lower than the value it is set to.
Adjustment of minimum and maximum gas pressure values
on the pressure switches must be performed when testing the
burner, on the basis of the pressure measured in each case.
Tripping of any of the gas pressure switches (in the sense of
opening the circuit) will therefore prevent the apparatus and
therefore the burner from working. When the burner is working
(flame on), tripping of the gas pressure switches (opening the
circuit) will shut down the burner immediately. When testing the
burner, it is very important to check that the pressure switches
are working properly. By using the adjustment devices, it
can be verified whether the pressure switch that stops the
burner actually operates (i.e. opens the circuit). (see also the
instructions in the "BT 320" quick guide).
Check the efficiency of the thermostats or boiler pressure
switches (they should shut down the burner when triggered).
