more easily. Dirt can have a negative influence on the static and
dynamic strengths of ropes (3.2.6). When wet, the rope can shrink
by up to 7%. The rope should therefore always be protected from
dirt and transported in suitable packaging (e.g. rope bag). To prevent
twisting, the rope should be loosely coiled in the bag. Labelling may
only be carried out using an Edding 3000 marker (4.5).
6.) Service life
The actual service life essentially depends exclusively on the
condition of the product, which is influenced by a number of factors,
including the intensity and type of use under individual conditions,
transport, temperature, UV radiation, sharp edges. etc. The service
life can, however, be cut short by exceptional circumstances during
an individual use, such as through a fall with a fall factor of >1 or
less if the equipment has already been damaged through transport,
for example. With occasional, appropriate use and correct storage,
a rope can be used for several years, whereby the plastic parts,
even with careful handling, are subjected to an ageing process.
Chaffed fibres, discolourations and hard areas are a sure sign that
the product needs replacing. It should also be noted that the
product must be replaced if there are any changes to technical
regulations and/or a standard relating to the product. The rope
must be replaced after a maximum of 10 years.
PLEASE NOTE: It is not possible to make a universally valid
statement about the service life of the product. Too many
influencing factors have a role to play here. If there is even the
slightest doubt about the quality of the product, it should be
handed over to a qualified person for inspection.
NOTE: The manufacturer's liability for defective products does not
include damage to property or personal injuries, which can occur
even if the personal fall protection equipment is functioning properly
and used correctly. This manufacturer's liability will be rendered
null and void if the equipment is modified, or if local regulations are
not complied with or followed.
