Testing Drive Control & Speed Selector
Lever
1.
Withthe engine turnedoff, movethe speedselectorleverinto
sixth(6) position.Referto Figure13.
2.
Withthe wheeldrivecontrol released,pushthe snowthrower
forward,thenpull it back.The machineshouldmovefreely.
3.
Engagethe drivecontroland attemptto movethe machineboth
forwardand back,resistanceshouldbe felt.
4.
Movethe speedselector leverinto thefast reverse(R2)position
and repeattheprevioustwo steps.
5.
If you experiencedresistancerollingthe unit, eitherwhen
repositioning the speedselector leverfrom 6 to R2 or when
attemptingto movethe machinewith the drivecontrol released,
adjustthe drivecontrolimmediately. S ee AdjustingDriveand

Adjusting Drive and Auger Controls
1.
Frombeneaththe handle,pull downwardon the appropriatecable
and unhookthe springfoundon the end of the cablefrom its
respectiveactuatorbracket.Referto Figures14and 15.
2.
Slidethe springup thecable to exposethe cablecouplerthreads
and lock nut. Referto Figure15.
.
Figure14
Adjustthe lock nutas follows:if adjustingthe drivecable, thread
the lock nut outward(downthe coupler)to lengthenthecable and
allowthe unit to movefreelywhenthe controlis released.Thread
the lock nut inward(up thecoupler)to shortenthe cableto reduce
slippageand preventthe machinefrom beingeasily movedwith
the drivecontrolengaged.
Donotover-tighten t hecable.Over-tightening mayprevent t heauger
shaftfromdisengaging andcompromise thesafetyof thesnowthrower.
4.
If adjustingthe auger cable,threadthelock nutoutwardstowards
end of threadto lengthenthe cableas necessaryto stopthe
auger shaftfrom turningwhenthe controlis released.
5.
Securelyhookeachcable'sspringintothe appropriatehole of the
respective actuatorbracket.Bothcables hookintothe rearward-
most hole in eachbracket,as shownin Figure14.
6.
Repeatthe wheeldriveand augercontroltests to verifyproper
adjustment.Repeatpreviousstepsif necessaryto attain proper
adjustmentof eachcable.
