Initial operation
Setting up the cable connections
Connect the external hard drive via a USB 3.0 connection.
You can also connect the device to computers with USB 1.1 or USB 2.0. However,
the transfer speed is then considerably lower.
NOTE
USB 3.0 operation is only possible in conjunction with the supplied USB
cable with USB 3.0 specifications. Whilst a USB 2.0 cable may be used, you
will not benefit from the high speed of the USB 3.0 standard.
Start your computer and wait until Windows® has fully loaded.
Connect the USB cable to the connection on your external hard drive.
Connect the other end of the connection cable to your computer.
Now connect the mains adapter to an easily accessible power socket. Plug the
adapter plug into the appropriate socket on the hard drive.
The operating indicator (blue diode) lights up as soon as the hard drive is connect-
ed with power.
Under Windows® XP/Vista/Windows® 7, the hard drive is now automatically detect-
ed and integrated into your Windows® environment.
