Rudderposition indicator
RPI1700, RPI1800 and RPI1810
Introduction
The Vetus electronic rudder position indicators will display the
rudder position over a range of 40 degrees both to portside
and starboard.
A complete installation consists of one or two display instru-
ments, to choice 'RPI1700', 'RPI1800' or 'RPI1810', and either
a Vetus rudder feedback unit 'RFU1718' or an already installed
rudder feedback unit supplied with the Vetus auto pilot AP2S.

The display instruments are suitable for both 12 Volt and 24
Volt, with negative ground or insulated return (2-pole system).
Installation
Rudder feedback unit: Consult the supplied installation manual.
Meter: Click with the 'RPI1800' and 'RPI1810' the round- or
square bezel on to the instrument.
Cut out an opening in the instrument panel or bulkhead and
install the meter as indicated per drawing. Ensure that the seal
sits correctly between the meter and the panel or bulkhead.
Connections: Connect the power supply to the instruments as
indicated in the diagram.
With the 'RPI1700' the scale illumination can be connected to
either 12 or 24 Volt.
Insert the light bulbs which are suitable for the ship's power
supply voltage into the fittings, 'RPI1800' 1 bulb, 'RPI1810' 2
bulbs.
Install the cable, or cables, from rudder feedback unit to each
instrument and insert the plug into the socket into rudder
feedback unit and connect the instruments as indicated per
drawing.
Calibration
After adjustment of the rudder feedback unit, see 'Manual
RFU1718', it is possible to calibrate each individual meter with
ajustment screw '0'.
