Possible cause
The tool is damaged.
The fastener was driven into the rib
of the beam.
The supporting material is thicker
and/or of higher strength.
The piston jams in the piston stop-
per.
The tool is clogged with dirt.
The piston guide is clogged with
dirt.
The piston wasn't fitted.
The piston is broken.
The fastener guide is clogged with
dirt.
A fastener is jammed in the fas-

The piston guide is clogged with
dirt behind the connecting thread.
The rotating sleeve is not fully

The nail detector is jammed.
Part of the nail detector is broken.
Action to be taken
▶ Change the piston and piston
stopper together (as a set).
▶ Contact Hilti Service.
▶ Mark the position of the rib of
the beam and then drive another
fastener alongside.
▶ Increase the driving power
(adjust the power regulation) or
use more powerful cartridges –
if available.
▶ Turn the rotating sleeve and
change the piston and piston
stopper together (as a set).
→ page 10
▶ Clean the tool.
▶ If necessary, turn the rotating
sleeve, disassemble the base
plate → page 10 and clean the
piston guide → page 11.
▶ Fit the piston in the tool.
▶ Change the piston and piston
stopper together (as a set).
▶ Clean the base plate and
the parts attached to it using
the brushes intended for this
purpose.
▶ Remove the jammed fastener.
▶ Avoid shear breakage. Avoid
missing the beam. It may be
necessary to mark the position
of the beam better in future.
▶ Unscrew the base plate, fit the
piston stopper the right way
round and then screw the base
plate on again.
▶ Clean the piston guide.
▶ Lubricate the connecting
thread.
▶ Close the rotating sleeve.
→ page 8
▶ Clean the base plate and
remove all foreign objects.
Take care to ensure adequate
lubrication of the fastener strip
guides with Hilti lubricant spray.
▶ Check for correct operation of
the nail detector by checking
that the tool is ready for use
