USING EFFECTS
You may also use the Master Effect section knobs and buttons to select, enable/disable, and tweak effects which can be
applied to the master mix.
MASTER FX knob – selects which effect will be applied to the mix.
[MASTER FX] button – turns the effect on and off.
FX LEVEL knob – determines how much of the effect is blended in with the master mix.
You will also notice that when selecting effects, one or two effect parameters become available for
tweaking:
PMTR1 knob – will adjust the first parameter of the selected Master Effect
PMTR2 knob – will adjust the second parameter of the selected Master Effect.
Please note: Depending on which effect you have chosen, the parameters will be different and the
second parameter may not be available.
You may use the BRIGHT and CONTRAST knobs on the controller to adjust the brightness and contrast setting of
the master mix.
Near the Master Effect section of the controller, you will also notice two additional buttons: [INSTA BLACK] and [BPM TAP]
[INSTA BLACK]: Pressing this button will toggle the video output to black or to a selected background visual
assigned in the NuVJ software.
[BPM TAP]: You can use this button to manually adjust the tempo of the session by tapping the button to the
beat. If you hold the button for 3 seconds and then release it, the BPM of the session will go back to the BPM
detected from the sound input. (Please see Reference Manual for more information on syncronizing to an audio
input.)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As we already mentioned, it is important to also read the Reference Manual in order to fully understand the possibilities and
features of the NuVJ software. This Quickstart provides only a quick overview of NuVJ's functionality. To find out additional
information about NuVJ, you may also visit
Also included with NuVJ is a DVD of additional video content, which you can use in your sessions. We recommend copying the
content to a folder on your hard-drive, as this will significantly improve performance with it.
You can assign an effect to each of the cells by going to the "Effects" tab on top of the
browser on the left. Dragging an effect from the list onto a cell will load the effect onto the
particular cell. You can then use the PMTR1 and PMTR2 knobs on
that deck to control the parameters of the effect you loaded. Using
effects on both the cells and the master mix allows for some interesting
effect combinations.
Please note: Depending on which effect you have chosen, the parameters will be different
and the second parameter may not be available.
