Instructions and guarantee
waste disposal service.
Attention: For added safety, it is advisable to remove the batteries in the
presence of children under the age of 12.
CAUTION: in the electronic counters, at the end of the cartridge life, the display
flashes until switching off in order to avoid battery consumption. When replacing
the filter cartridge, reactivate the display as shown in the section "ACTIVATION OF
THE CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT INDICATOR".
USING THE WATER FILTER
• Water filter with automatic fill device
Place the jug under the tap so that the water jet directly enters the hopper through
the opening in the lid. Turn on the tap (the pressure of the water jet should not
be too strong in order to avoid splashes): the water automatically opens the
automatic filling device and directly enters the hopper. (fig.E1).
Fill the hopper to the top with cold tap water.
When the hopper is almost full the automatic filling device gradually closes:
reduce the water flow and shut off the tap when the device closes (fig.E2).
It is in any case recommended to check the water level in the hopper from one
side of the jug.
• Water filter without automatic filling device.
Fill the hopper with the first litre of water (fig.E3) and close the lid. Wait for the
water to be filtered; when the operation is completed, it is possible to use the
filtered water or to refill the hopper; in this case you will have 2 litres of water
available.
Your jug is now ready for use.
To ensure optimum performance it is recommended not to filter more than 5 litres a
day (taking care to wait some minutes between the filtrations). The filtering cartridge
should be replaced every 150 litres/30 filtration days (maximum product efficiency
and safety is assured when this instruction is observed).
FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
For replacement of the cartridge remove it from the hopper pulling it upwards as
shown in fig.F and repeat the operations as indicated in the sections "PREPARATION
OF THE FILTER CARTRIDGE" and "ACTIVATION OF THE CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
INDICATOR".
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Washing instructions for the jug lid:
• Lid with removable rectangular electronic indicator:
Remove the lid from the jug.
Take out the electronic indicator by raising the lever located on the upper part.
Then hand wash the lid in warm water and washing-up liquid. Dry the lid and
slot the electronic indicator back into its housing.
• Lid with removable trapezoidal electronic indicator.
Remove the lid from the jug and check that the magnet is on the underside of
the lid (see fig.G). Remove the electronic indicator by turning the lid over on to
the back of your hand with a smart tap (see fig.H). Then hand wash the lid in
warm water and washing-up liquid. Dry the lid and slot the electronic indicator
back into its housing.
• Lid with non-removable manual indicator:
Remove the lid from the jug. Then hand wash the lid with warm water and
washing-up liquid. Dry the lid.
• Lid with removable manual indicator:
Remove the lid from the jug, turn it upside down and remove the manual indicator
by pushing on its backside (fig.6b).
Then hand wash the lid in warm water and washing-up liquid. Dry the lid and
insert the indicator into the lid by pushing as per fig.6d.
Washing instructions for the other components:
1) Wash all the components, except for the cartridge and the removable electronic
counter, by hand with warm water and washing-up liquid at least 2-3 times a
week. Do not use other chemicals or abrasives.
2) Do not wash the cartridge with soap or detergents.
3) In the case of non-use of the jug for 24 hours, discard the water that remains
inside the jug, fill the hopper and let it filter. The water filter is ready for use
again.
4) Keep the water jug in the fridge. The refrigerator must be kept in a good condition.
5) Keep the product away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
6) Only use cold water (+4°C: +30°C).
7) Only filter water; do not filter any other type of liquid.
REPLACEMENT OF DAMAGED PARTS
Replacement of the removable electronic indicator:
If damaged, replace the removable electronic indicator with a new one.
For the removal of rectangular electronic indicator, lift it up through the hook placed
on its upper part.
For the removal of trapezoidal electronic indicator, turn the lid upside down and
tap it on your hand.
Dispose of the indicator according to the instructions in paragraph "Disposal of the
electronic indicator".
A new removable electronic indicator can be purchased from an authorized dealer
(the list of Laica authorized dealers is available on the website www.laica.com).
Insert the new removable electronic indicator in the housing and activate it as
indicated in the paragraph "Activating the cartridge replacement indicator".
Replacing the lid or the removable manual indicator:
If the lid or removable manual indicator is broken or damaged, purchase a replacement
at an authorized dealer (consult the website www.laica.com for the list of all Laica
authorized dealers). Then dispose of the lid or damaged removable manual indicator
as indicated in the paragraph "Disposal of the filter jug".
PROBLEMS
The water flow slows down until stopping
1) The filtering cartridge has not been properly activated Repeat the procedure
described in the section "PREPARATION OF THE FILTERING CARTRIDGE".
2) Air bubbles may build up inside the filtering cartridge thus hindering the normal
water flow. Remove the filter, immerse it in water letting the air bubbles escape,
allow it to drip and then insert it again into the hopper.
Presence of dark residues inside the jug
1) The vegetable carbon contained in the filter may release a certain amount of
fine powder (which is in no way noxious) Repeat the procedure described in the
section "ACTIVATION OF THE FILTERING CARTRIDGE" remembering to insert the
cartridge into the anti-sediment system.
The electronic indicator does not switch on
1) The electronic indicator has not been properly activated. Repeat the procedure
described in the section "ACTIVATION OF THE CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
INDICATOR".
2) The battery is flat. Change the battery. In case of doubt concerning the activation
time of the last filtering cartridge, replace it with a new one.
DISPOSAL PROCEDURE (Dir. 2012/19/Eu-WEEE)
The symbol on the bottom of the device indicates the separated collection
of electric and electronic equipment. At the end of life of the device, do
not dispose it as mixed solid municipal waste, but dispose it referring to

distributor, when buying a new device of the same type to be used with
the same functions. If the appliance to be disposed of is less than 25 cm,
it can be returned to a retail location that is over 400 m² without having to purchase
a new, similar device. This procedure of separated collection of electric and electronic
devices is carried out forecasting a European environmental policy aiming at
safeguarding, protecting and improving environment quality, as well as avoiding
potential effects on human health due to the presence of hazardous substances in
such equipment or to an improper use of the same or of parts of the same.
Caution! The wrong disposal of electric and electronic equipment may involve
sanctions.
Instructions for the disposal of the water filter system:
• dispose the electronic indicator as electronic equipment at a specific collection
centre;
• dispose the other components according to their respective belonging class
(plastic, solid municipal waste for the cartridge).
