MANUAL METHOD
1. Remove all old packing ( remove lantern ring ( s ) ) if any,
and plug connections.
2. Clean shaft or shaft sleeve.
3. Cut 2 packing rings, packing should be skived cut only. Insert
one packing ring into stuffing box, be sure to seat ring flush on
the bottom of the stuffing box using a Chesterton tamping tool.
4. Fill stuffing box evenly with CMS-2000 using Chesterton
tamping tool or gland follower to compact.
5. Install outer packing ring, place follower into position and
tighten finger tight.
6. Start pump and tighten to control leakage.
INJECTABLE METHOD
1. Follow Steps 1, 2 and 3 in Manual Method
( DO NOT PLUG CONNECTIONS ) .
2. Assure flush port is free of any obstructions.
3. Install new piping for CMS-2000 sealing compound at lantern
port, i.e., NPT ( National Pipe Thread ) .

4. Install outer gland end packing ring.

6. Calculate the stuffing box volume needed to fill stuffing box
or check volume reference table.
7. Using the handle, measure the cartridge volume needed
to fill the stuffing box.
Note: Each line equals 2 cubic inch of material.
Cut quantity needed.
8. Load into Injection System quantity needed.
9. Attach injection system to pump at quick connect fitting.
10. Pump material into stuffing box until resistance of pumping is
reached, at this point the CMS-2000 Injection System is empty.
11. Start pump and observe leakage. A minimal amount of initial
heat build up may be noticed, do not adjust gland. Allow 15 - 20
minutes for break in to occur.
12. If leakage rate is not acceptable it is not necessary to tighten gland
bolts. Inject more compound at a rate of 3-5 strokes at a time
without shutting the pump down. Allow approximately 5 minutes
between injections because the compound will continue to flow
slightly after stroking.
13. Remove CMS-2000 Injection System and insert plug into
female fitting.
