Delicious waffle recipes
1. Sour cream waffles
5 ........ eggs
1 ........ sachet vanilla sugar
200g ........ sour cream or crème
frâiche
1 ........ cup flour
Use the sour cream/crème frâiche cup
to measure the ingredients.
Beat egg yolks and sugar until creamy.
Stir in sour cream and vanilla sugar. Sift
flour and add to mixture.
Carefully fold in stiffly beaten egg
whites. Bake waffles according to
instructions.
Tip: Enjoy your waffles with
tinned sweet or sour cherries
d
(thicken the juice slightly)
and whipped cream or
vanilla ice cream.
2. Yeast waffles
250g ........ flour
15g ........ yeast
40g ........ sugar
100g ........ butter or margarine
approx. 1/4 l.. milk
1 ........ pinch salt
2 ........ eggs
Peel of half a lemon
Icing sugar to decorate
Put flour into a basin. Make a well in the
centre of the flour, crumble in yeast and
add sugar. Pour in a little lukewarm milk
and work in a little flour. Cover the
dough and allow to rise for 30-40
minutes in a warm place.
Now add the remaining ingredients and
knead the dough until it forms bubbles
and no longer sticks to the sides of the
bowl. Allow dough to rise for a further
30-40 minutes and bake the waffles
according to the instructions until they
have a golden colour.
3. Plain waffles
250g ........ butter or margarine
4 ........ eggs
200g ........ sugar
1 ........ sachet vanilla sugar
1 ........ pinch salt
125g ........ flour
125g ........ cornflour
Beat butter and sugar until creamy, then
add egg yolks one by one, sugar, vanilla
sugar and salt.
Mix flour and cornflour and stir into
mixture a bit at a time. Carefully fold in
stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake waffles
according to instructions.
Tip: Plain waffles stay fresh longer in a
closed tin.
4. Cinnamon waffles
150g ........ butter or margarine
125g ........ sugar
1 ........ sachet vanilla sugar
3 ........ eggs
1 ........ level teaspoon cinnamon
1 ........ pinch ground cloves
Sugar and cinnamon
Beat butter/margarine until creamy, add
eggs one by one, sugar and vanilla
sugar. Add flour and spices and knead
to a smooth dough.
Roll dough out to 3mm thick and cut out
waffle iron sized pieces. Lay the pieces
on the greased waffle iron and bake.
Sprinkle on sugar and cinnamon while
still hot.
5. Nut waffles
125g ........ butter or margarine
50g ........ sugar
3 ........ eggs
4 table-
spoons ........milk
75g ........ grated hazelnuts
75g ........ flour
1 ........ pinch baking powder
Icing sugar to decorate.
Beat butter/margarine until creamy, then
add egg yolks one by one and sugar.
Mix flour and baking powder. Alternately
add milk, nuts and flour with baking
powder to mixture.
Carefully fold in stiffly beaten egg
whites. Bake waffles according to
instructions.
Tip: Instead of the nuts, you can use
grated almonds, roasted oat flakes or
coconut flakes.
