• D o not store the generator outside unprotected from the weather. Ice,
water or moisture could cause a malfunction or short circuit which
could result in death
• T ake professional advice from a qualified electrician before attempting
to connect the generator to a building's electrical system
Fire and Burn Dangers
• T he exhaust system gets very hot during operation. It will get hot
enough to ignite some materials. Ensure the generator is at least
1 metre away from buildings and other equipment during operation. Do
not enclose the generator in any structure. Keep flammable materials
away from the generator
• T he exhaust becomes very hot during operation and remains hot for
a considerable length of time even after the generator is switched off.
Do not touch the exhaust when it is hot, let the generator cool down to
ambient temperature before storing it indoors
• P etrol is extremely flammable and potentially explosive under certain
circumstances. Do not smoke. Do not allow sparks or flames where
the generator is refuelled or where petrol is stored. Refuel in a well-
ventilated area with the engine switched off

Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all
its features and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If
any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before
attempting to use this tool
Included with the tool are:
110V plug, UK mains plug, sparkplug spanner, Phillips screwdriver

Preparing the Generator

• Ensure all parts of the Generator are present and in good condition.
If any part is missing, or damaged, contact your retailer and have the
parts replaced before attempting to use this tool
Filling with engine oil
• I MPORTANT: The Generator will be supplied without engine oil. Filling
and checking the engine oil level should always be done before use
• Place Generator on flat level ground
• U nscrew Dipstick (22) from Oil Filling Point (23)
• Carefully pour in oil, of type and quantity in the specification
• W e recommend pouring the oil using a funnel with filter gauze to keep
dirt out. (Silverline Tools product 793799)
• Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle
• M ake sure the Dipstick (22) is clean and dry, then screw it all the way
back in to the Filling Point (23)
• R emove the Dipstick again, keeping the stick pointing down, as shown
in Fig H
• Oil should be to the top of the cross-hatched area
• Add oil until level is correct, then replace the Dipstick
Operating the Generator
• E nsure the Generator is on firm, level ground, prepared as described
in this manual
Fuelling
• A lways refuel in a safe place, well away from the work area and any
source of heat or ignition. Avoid any contact with the fuel
• Only add fuel when the engine is stopped and has cooled fully
• Remove Fuel Tank Cap (19) and fill with fuel, see specification
• Store spare fuel in a suitable container. (Silverline Tools product
497251)

Starting the Generator

1. Set Fuel Tap (13) to ON
2. Set Choke Lever (12)
NOTE – Choke should only be ON if the engine is COLD.
CHECK the exhaust area is clear of obstruction and flammable materials.
It will get hot quickly.
3. Turn Ignition Switch (2) to ON
4. Firmly pull Starter Handle (14 & Fig. E) until the engine starts
NOTE – After each pull of the Starter Handle (14) control its return.
DO NOT allow it to snap back towards the Generator
5. The engine will run at a fast idle, allow it to do this for 20 - 30
seconds
6. Slowly reduce the amount of Choke (12) as the engine warms up

Stopping the Generator

1. Turn off any connected items
2. Turn AC Switch (5) to OFF
3. Allow engine to run at idle speed for 30 seconds
4. Turn Ignition Switch (2) to OFF position
5. Turn Fuel Tap (13) to OFF position
6. Allow the Generator and engine to cool fully before attempting to
move, or carrying out any cleaning and maintenance
