4. Install inlet and outlet plumbing and pressure tank as shown in FIGURE 2. A check valve
must be installed in the inlet and outlet plumbing. The outlet check valve should be
between the pump and the pressure tank to prevent the possibility of backflow in to public
water systems, and to ensure proper system operation. The inlet check valve should be
used when no other backflow prevention device is present. This inlet check valve should
be installed before the optional bypass loop if that plumbing is used. Franklin Electric
recommends that all system check valves be spring-loaded to provide best system
performance. Be sure to check all local plumbing codes to ensure that all requirements
pertaining to backflow prevention are met.

5. Install the pressure sensors at the pressure tank tee downstream of the pressure tank. (The
pressure tank should be between the pressure sensor and the pump.) The pressure sensor
has a 1/4-18 National Pipe Thread (NPT) connection. The pressure sensor should not be
installed in an inverted orientation (upside down). Make sure the pressure sensor and tank
are not located more than 5 feet off the main piping.
6. Install a pressure relief valve downstream of the check valve. The discharge must be
plumbed to a drain rated for maximum pump output at relief pressure setting.
