Nota : If the reference earth rod is not installed, you will not be able to test the quality of the basic earth rod connection, which is strongly
recommended before putting the installation to use. You will therefore be unable guarantee that the energizer has a sufficiently effective
earth rod connection and is capable of delivering the maximum level of energy for which it has been designed when there is a large amount
of vegetation growth.
3 - Connecting the fencing installation to the energizer :
Connect the fencing to the "FENCING START" terminal
distance fencing, use LACME's FISOL GALVA designed for voltages up to 20,000 Volts, which can be buried as it has a protective sheath.
For fencing that uses FORCEFLEX, it is preferable to use LACME's FISALU insulation dual cable.
Connect the "basic earth rod" installation to the "EARTH" terminal
insulation of the FISOL GALVA or FISALU type from LACME.
Likewise, connect the "reference earth rod" to the "EARTH CHECK" terminal
Ensure that all the connections make good electrical contact.
If you have to use different metals at a knot or connection, regularly protect this potential weak spot of the installation against oxidation by
applying mechanical grease.
4 - OPTIONAL - Installing a significant distant loss simulation device between the fencing wire and the ground :
As it is necessary to simulate a significant loss to test the correct quality of the basic earth rod and that this operation is best repeated at
least once per year, for example in the dry season, it is advisable to set up such a simulator once and for all.
To do this, you drive a 1-metre long rod into the soil at around one hundred metres from the basic earth rod connection of the energizer.
Connect it to the FISOL GALVA or FISALU (high voltage cable with double insulation) on a LACME circuit breaker connected to the fencing
wire. You will thus have a permanent installation allowing you to create a loss at any moment and thus test the quality of the basic earth rod.

5 - Test for the good working order of the "basic earth rod" installation :
This test checks the good working order of the installation on your fencing. It involves simulating a large (parallel) loss at a distance from the
fencing. When this loss becomes large enough, the left-hand blue LED starts to flash strongly. At this point, if the basic earth rod connection
is not good enough, the right-hand red LED will switch on. The aim is then to improve the basic earth rod connection so that the right-hand
red LED finally switches off.
To achieve this, you must have already carried out the operations described in sections 2 and 4 above. You can then carry out the following
steps :
- Disconnect the energizer from the mains supply.
- Create a massive parallel loss (e.g. if you have fitted the simulator specified in section 4, set your circuit breaker so that it
activates the short-circuit).
- Reconnect the energizer and wait for 2 minutes until the system stabilises.
- After 2 minutes, check that the blue LED is on (it shows a large loss in the fencing).
- Follow the instructions given in A or B below, according to the case.
If A - The right-hand red LED is off :
- Congratulations ! Your earth rod installation is perfect.
- Remove the massive parallel loss (e.g. if you have fitted the simulator specified in section 4, set your circuit breaker so that it
disables the short-circuit).
- Your installation is now in the best operating condition.
If B - The right-hand red LED remains on :
- Your earth rod installation can be improved.
- Disconnect the energizer.
- Add another basic earth rod to the installation (for these "difficult" soil conditions, the basic earth rod may require around ten or
so 2-metre rods).
- Reconnect the energizer and wait for 2 minutes until the system stabilises.
- Check that the right-hand red LED is off.
If this is the case, refer to paragraph A above. Otherwise :
- Repeat operation B as many times as necessary until the red LED switches off.
