KER
Supplied to supplement conventional hot water heating (for example, fan coils
connected to a heat pump), KER additional electrical heaters may be used on FC/
N fan coils in models 1 to 10.
Two types of additional electrical heaters are offered, depending on the version of
fan coil they are to be installed on:
KER M.1.020 additional electrical heater for fan coil versions FC/NL and FC/NB
KER M.1.030 additional electrical heater for fan coil versions FC/NIP, FC/NS and
FC/NIS
This accessory cannot be used on wall version FC/NA.
The kit, described in figure 1, is composed mainly of:
A Electrical heater clad in finned aluminium, for 230V / 1~ / 50HZ power supply,
preassembled on support brackets for attachment to fan coil and complete with
automatic and manual reset safeties. The following table shows absorbed electrical
power (equivalent to heat yield) and operating current;

B Safety thermostat with automatic reset integral with electrical heater, turns off
heater in case of overheating.
C Safety fuse, attached to support bracket, turns off electrical heater in case of
malfunction of safety thermostat with automatic reset.
D Support brackets for electrical heater.
E Incorporated control panel for installation on FC/NL and FC/NB fan coils. The
control panel is composed of a speed switch and an ON/OFF switch for the
electrical heater. This panel does not control temperature, which may be done
with a room thermostat.
F Remote control panel for use with fan coil versions FC/NIP, FC/NS and FC/NIS.
Composed of a speed switch, an electromechanical room thermostat, a summer/
winter reverser, and an ON/OFF switch for the electrical heater.
G Box containing electrical wires and relay, supplied only for models FC/N 8 and 10
with electrical power greater than 2 kW.
H Set of intermediate grilles in heat-resistant plastic.
INSTALLATION
Attention! Cut power to the fan coil before beginning the installation.
1. Remove the cover (if present) and replace the existing intermediate grilles with
the heat-resistant grilles supplied in the accessory kit.
2. Remove the front conveyor on wall versions; the condensation tank on ceiling
versions.
3. Install the electrical heater complete with support brackets on the shoulders of the
heat exchanger battery (4 fastening screws). The wires should exit on the side
opposite the water connections.
4. Run the wires for the electrical heater and safety devices through the opening on
the side of the base, being careful to insert the grommet already inserted on the
electrical wires (figure 2).
In case of installation on fan coils with water connections on the right, you will
have to change the position of the safety devices:
- the safety thermostat will be installed on the front fin at the bottom, on the wire
exit side.
- the fuse will be installed on the new bracket (supplied) and repositioned on the
top of the support bracket on the wire exit side.
5. For version FC/NL fan coils, install the control panel on the side of the base on the
side opposite the water connections.
For versions FC/NIP, FC/NS and FC/NIS, the control panel is attached to the wall
in an area that is easily accessed for setting of functions and suitable for efficient
reading of room temperature (figure 3). Therefore, avoid:
- positions exposed to direct sunlight
- positions exposed to direct currents of hot or cold air
- placement of elements that prevent correct temperature reading (curtains or
furniture)
- constant presence of water vapour
- covering or recessing the panel in the wall.
6. Install the wiring and relay box at the side of the base on the same side as the
control panel (models FC/N 8 - 10).
7. Perform wiring, in absence of voltage, scrupulously following the diagrams in
figures M1.020 and M.1.030, where:
M.1.020: wiring diagrams for Kit KER M.1.020, wall fan coils version FC/NL models
1 to 6 and models 8 and 10.
M.1.030: wiring diagrams for Kit KER M.1.030, wall-recessed fan coils FC/NIP,
ceiling FC/NS and ceiling-recessed FC/NIS, models 1 to 6 and model 8 and 10.
The installer performs the hatched connections.
For each fan coil, provide a single outlet and a switch (IL) with suitable fuse (F).

Set the pointer on knob A to the speed required.
Select the operating mode on the summer/winter reverser (C) and on the heater
switch (B).
Set the desired temperature on the thermostat.
To reach room temperature quickly, set maximum operating speed and set the
thermostat to maximum (+5°C in summer, + 30°C in winter).
To assure good operation of fan coils equipped with KER additional electrical
heaters, follow these instructions:
- do not place damp or wet clothing on the fan coil air delivery grille
- keep the air filter clean
- do not pour liquid into the unit
- do not insert metal parts into the air delivery grille
- DO NOT block air delivery from or suction to the fan coil
- avoid turning off the unit by cutting electrical power: use the start/stop switch.
