8 Firmware-Update
The file: "FIRMWARE.NFA" is the meter's operating system stored in its internal
9
memory
. It initializes the hardware and controls all measuring routines.
Procedure for the Update:
Copy the "firmware.nfa" file onto your SD memory card.
There should be no previous version
on the card and it should not be renamed.
Lock your SD memory card
.
by means of the small switch on its left side
Insert into your powered off NFA.
Turn on your NFA and wait for about 30 seconds.
You are done! The NFA has automatically updated its firmware.
The next time you turn on the NFA, the newly flashed firmware version will be used
and displayed on the LCD at startup.
The SD memory card can now be unlocked to permit normal use.
Trouble with the SD Memory Card?
Make sure to use SDHC Cards. SANDISK, for instance, produces reliable cards with
minimum power consumption.
If you experience a file system error, that is many files with strange endings, then
please format the card BEFORE updating the firmware. („Quick-format" or just de-
leting the files is not enough!).
Note: Windows XP does NOT format the SD memory cards according to the standard (Vista or Windows 7 are
ok). XP-users may use the following link to a standard-conformed formatter:

The version of the firmware is displayed by "FXXX" or "EXXX" after turning on the instrument, where the "XXX"
indicates the respective version's number.
For Delimitation: With „NFAsoft" one can configure the firmware, with the user settings being stored in the file
„CONFIG.NFA". This has nothing to do with the firmware-update described above.
