Application areas and functions
2.2
CareMat was primarily designed for use in retirement and nursing homes,
in hospitals and psychiatric wards as well as in assisted living facilities.
The necessary care for and supervision of persons who have dementia or
who are prone to falls increases the workload of the nursing staff.
CareMat provides ideal support: The risk of falls and the dangers which can
arise from patients wandering off or disorientation can be considerably
reduced.
CareMat is placed directly beside the patient's bed, as a pressure-sensitive
detector. As soon as the person leaves the bed and steps on the CareMat,
it is triggered and sends an alarm to the call system via the WiFi tag. The
6
wireless radio system facilitates handling around the patient's bed.
