MODELS
This manual describes the installation, operation
and maintenance of the V-200 T, V-252 T, V-401T,
V-420 T, V-425 T, V-640 T, V-820 T (Time controlled
vacuum version).
The model reference and its specifications are
shown on the identification plate located in the
machine.
These vacuum packaging machines have been
designed and manufactured in accordance with
the following European directives: 89/392/EEC,
93/68/EEC and 73/23/EEC.
INSTALLATION
For a suitable working operation and long service
life of the machine, follow the instructions contai-
ned in this manual.
POSITIONING
Place the machine so that it stands perfectly leve-
lled. To avoid damages, never lean the machine
on one of its sides.
ELECTRIC INSTALLATION
1.Motor specifications
-Single-phase motors are supplied for 220-240V.
-Three-phase motors are suitable for 220-240V or
380-415V.
Before connecting the vacuum packaging machi-
ne to the mains, check if the motor is prepared for
the same voltage as the mains. Otherwise, proce-
ed with changing the voltage as follows.
To change the voltage:
1.Connect the transformers to the suitable voltage,
as shown in the terminal strip.
2.Change, if necessary, motor connections as
shown in the terminal box.
3.Adjust, if necessary, the temperature relay as
shown in the electric diagram.
2.- Cable specifications
The SAMMIC vacuum packaging machines are
supplied with one thermoplastic-sheathed cable
1,5m in length.
THEY MUST BE EARTHED. The grounding wire of the
machine is identified.
-Three-phase machines: Prepare one 20A, 3P+T
wall socket and connect a sealed plug to the
vacuum packaging machine.
-Single-phase machines: Prepare one 20A, 2P+T
wall socket and the corresponding plug.
3.-To change the rotation direction (only in three-
phase machines)
If the vacuum pump motor generates unusual
noise on starting the machine, this means that the
motor rotates in the wrong direction. In this event,
immediately stop the machine and invert two feed
wires.
OIL FILLING
In V-640 and V-820 models, the pump already
contains oil.
In other models, fill with oil the pump through the
intake, until filling 3/4 parts of the oil-sight. Use oil
without detergents.
-SAE10 OIL (detergent-free) for pumps up to
20m³/h.
-SAE20 OIL (detergent-free) for pumps 21m³/h.
-SAE30 OIL (detergent-free) for pumps over 21m³/h.
STARTING
Once the machine is switched on and to allow the
oil to reach the right temperature, it is advisable to
carry out some cycles before proceeding to the
first packing.
TIME CONTROLLED VACUUM
-Turn the main switch to position (I). The "POWER
ON" led should turn on. Let the machine run to
warm up oil.
-Place as many insert plates as will be necessary
according to the volume of the bag to be
vacuum-sealed.
-Select the vacuum level required, by rotating
the vacuum regulator knob.
-Adjust the sealing time, by rotating the sealing
timer knob. At first, place it in position 5 (2.5 s).
Maximum sealing time admissible is 6 seconds.
-Place the bag with its opening outwards, i.e.
agaist the front panel of the chamber.
-On closing the cover, the cycle starts automati-
cally. The vacuum level reached is displayed on
the vacuummeter on the left of the control
panel. Two red pilot lamps turn on successively
to indicate which phase of the process (vacuu-
ming or sealing) is being carried out. Both ope-
rations are controlled by an electronic timer
according to the preset operating times.
On completion of the bag sealing phase, the
cover gets automatically open and the pump
turns off.
Cycle switch: V-420T, V-640T and V820T models
have a push button to interrupt the cycle and
pass on to the next phase of the same.
BAG CUTTING
The bars including bag cutting threads are sup-
plied as an optional kit. To install it, the sealing bar
must be replaced by the new bar provided with
the cutting thread and the connection of one of its
wires must be changed in the sealing transformer
according to the power indicated in the electric
layout
- V-404/V-420/V-425: 15V (18V depending on the
bag type).
- V-640: 15V (short bar), 23V (long bar)
- V-820: 18V (short bar), 28V (long bar)
For the bag cutting operation, it is enough to pro-
gramme the suitable sealing time in the control
keyboard and, once the bag is sealed, it is separa-
ted manually by the line marked by the thread.
MAINTENANCE
VERY IMPORTANT
-Never pack products if they are still hot, since the
vapour generated by them, damages the
vacuum pump.
-It is important to clean every day the interior and
edges of the chamber, as well as the locking joint.
The outside of the machine, MUST NOT BE washed
under a direct water jet; instead you can use a
wet cloth and an ordinary detergent. NEVER
CLEAN THE COVER WITH ALCOHOL, solvent or
glass-cleaners since they can affect the mechani-
cal properties of the machine and break it. If you
appreciate a crack in the cover, stop the machi-
ne and call the technical service authorised for
repairs; there is a risk of cover breaking.
-It is necessary to check the oil level every week.
Oil must cover 3/4 of the oil sight. Refill, if neces-
sary.
-Oil should be changed after the first 100 hours of
the machine; afterwards, it must be changed
approximately every 500 running hours of the
machine or, at least, after 6 months' use of the
machine. To change oil, unscrew the draining plug
and let the used oil out. For the refilling, follow the
instruction in the correspondent paragraph.
On machines with pumps of 40m³/h and over,
replace the oil filter at the same time. This filter is of
the type used in cars, as per ref: AWS2, thread
3/4".
-In the event the power cable should get dama-
ged and have to be replaced, the repair may
only be done by a SAMMIC approved assistance
service.
-Before cleaning, repairing or checking the machi-
ne, you must unplug the machine from the mains.
-The level of noise emission for a machine working
loaded, placed 1,6 metre high and measured at
a distance of 1 metre is 75 dß(A). Background
noise: 32 dß(A).
