5. Detection range of the PIR movement detector
The following information on the PIR movement detector serves only for reference
purposes. Changeable parameters, such as weather and surroundings, can have a
detrimental effect on the sensor. Please protect the appliance from direct sunlight.
.
6. Placement
To scare off smaller animals such as cats, small dogs, pine martens etc., place the
unit half to one metre above the ground, as close as possible to the ear height of the
animal that you wish to deter. The sound pattern of the loudspeaker and the 'sight
pattern' of the movement sensor are aligned horizontally. In order to also detect
smaller animals, and to enlarge the overall detection range, ensure that the unit is
not directed downwards. The animal deterrent device should be placed such that it
can be optimally directed towards the area to be protected. The unit can be placed
on any level surface without the fixing system having to be used. The unit can be
fixed to the wall of a building, to a wooden pole or on soft ground with the aid of the
swivelling arm fixing system or the standpipe (optional). In the case of large gardens
with dense undergrowth, it may be necessary to use more than one device in order
to provide sufficient protection.
Only install in protected outdoor areas. During battery operation the water plugs
must be plugged into the 'DC 12V' socket. During mains adapter operation the water
plugs must be plugged into the 'DC 6V' socket.
7. Precautionary measures
Do not direct the appliance towards neighbouring properties or publicly accessible
areas. It is intended only for use on your own property. The animal deterrent device
is designed to solve problems with animals which are running loose, straying or not
on the leash. It has an extremely irritating effect on cats, dogs and many other
animals. Please be aware that some people with very good hearing are able to hear
the animal deterrent device when the lowest frequency is selected. If this should
happen, select a higher frequency using the frequency selector switch.
