The globe can be levitated in two ways; you can decide
which is the easiest for you:
1. Fix the globe in the exact centre directly below the upper
magnetic head (see Fig. 3); the permanent magnet will
secure the globe sphere to the magnet head in this
position.
Now slowly pull the globe in a downward, vertical direction
millimetre by millimetre. At a distance of approx. 10 mm,
you will feel the weight of the globe change and the sphere
will become practically weightless in this position. Now
hold the globe sphere at this height and slowly let it go.
Do this very steadily to prevent the globe sphere from
oscillating. It should now levitate freely within the magnetic
field (see Fig. 4).
