Installation and Operation
Connecting and Powering
The endpoints can be powered using Power-over-Ethernet (PoE+) or the optional external 12 V DC
power supply.
Note: Make all network and audio connections to the endpoint before the power is applied.
Powering Using PoE+
Use PoE+ to connect a single endpoint, or to daisy-chain a maximum of three (3) endpoints:
Connect a PoE+ enabled port on the Dante network switch to the Dante/PoE+ network port on the
1.
first endpoint in the chain, using a CAT 5 cable.
2. To connect additional endpoints, follow the instructions below for Connecting Multiple Endpoints.
To daisy-chain more than three endpoints, use an external power supply instead of PoE+.
Note: When determining the number of ControlSpace EX endpoints that can be daisy-chained for
power, you must consider total power consumption. Add the power of each endpoint (6 watts each)
and all connected microphones. Microphones typically consume phantom power as well as LED power
(if applicable). Bose maintains a knowledgebase article at http://bosepro.link/micpower that provides
total power information for popular conferencing microphones. The total value must not exceed (with
some margin) the power source capacity. When using PoE as a source, do not exceed 12 watts in the
chain. With PoE+, the total power must not exceed 24 watts. If you exceed the total power available on
one PoE/PoE+ cable, consider running a second CAT 5 cable, or use a Bose accessory power supply.
Powering Using Optional External Power Supply
Use the optional EX Endpoint Power Supply or a 12 V DC Limited Power Source (LPS) or Class 2 Power
Supply (as defined in the IEC60065/UL60950 safety standard) to daisy-chain a maximum of six (6)
endpoints:
Connect a port on the Dante network switch to the Dante/PoE+ network port on the endpoint, using
1.
a CAT 5 cable.
2. To connect additional endpoints, follow the instructions below for Connecting Multiple Endpoints.
3. Connect the power supply to +12 V DC IN on the first endpoint in the chain.
